Phillies' Hector Perez: Joins Philadelphia on MiLB pact
Rotowire
Perez signed a minor-league contract with the Phillies on Saturday.
The 27-year-old right-hander received a brief cup of coffee with the Rays earlier this season for what was his first MLB appearance since 2020, but he's otherwise spent the entire 2023 campaign at Triple-A Durham before he elected free agency earlier this month. Over 33 appearances with Durham spanning 53 innings, Perez compiled a 4.08 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 69:30 K:BB. He's expected to settle into a multi-inning relief role with the Phillies' Triple-A affiliate in Lehigh Valley.

Hector Perez: Searching for new home

Perez made just one appearance at the big-league level prior to losing his 40-man roster spot and had instead spent most of the season at Triple-A Durham, where he accrued a 4.08 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 69:30 K:BB across 53 frames.

Perez was removed from Tampa Bay's 40-man roster back in April but has found his way back to the big leagues. While the 27-year-old was with the Rays briefly earlier this season, he didn't appear in a game and hasn't seen any action in the majors since 2020. He'll be ticketed for a low-leverage relief role while he's with Tampa Bay.
