  • Athletics' Janson Junk: Clears waivers

The Athletics outrighted Junk to Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday. Junk will remain in the Oakland organization after he was recently designated for assignment for a third time this season. The 28-year-old right-hander has made six appearances at the big-league level in 2024 between Milwaukee and Oakland, logging a 14.62 ERA and 3.25 WHIP in eight innings.

  • Athletics' Janson Junk: Booted from 40-man roster

The Athletics designated Junk for assignment Thursday. Junk's lone appearance for the Athletics went as poorly as it could possibly go, as he was walloped for seven runs without recording an out in Wednesday's loss to the Mariners. He'll be replaced on the roster by Brady Basso.

  • Athletics' Janson Junk: Claimed by Oakland

The Athletics claimed Junk off waivers from the Astros on Saturday. Junk never appeared in a game for the Astros, and he was designated for assignment Thursday after posting a 6.14 ERA and 1.34 WHIP through 14.2 innings at Triple-A Sugar Land. He'll now presumably return to the majors as he switches organizations, though Junk will likely operate as a low-leverage arm out of the Oakland bullpen. The Athletics moved Miguel Andujar (abdomen) to the 60-day IL to open up a spot on the 40-man roster for Junk.

  • Astros' Janson Junk: Removed from 40-man roster

The Astros designated Junk for assignment Thursday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Jason Heyward. Junk was claimed off waivers earlier this month by the Astros and is now slated to go through the waiver process again.

  • Brewers' Janson Junk: DFA'd by Milwaukee

The Brewers designated Junk for assignment Sunday. The right-hander will lose his place on the 26-man and 40-man rosters due to Devin Williams (back) returning from the 60-day injured list Sunday. Junk has allowed six earned runs in five big-league outings this season but has a 2.65 ERA across 34 innings at Triple-A.

  • Brewers' Janson Junk: Recalled by Milwaukee

The Brewers recalled Junk from Triple-A Nashville on Friday. The move corresponds with Milwaukee placing southpaw Rob Zastryzny on the 15-day injured list due to left elbow tendinitis. Junk has spent most of the season in Nashville, posting a 2.65 ERA and 1.29 WHIP across 34 innings. He's made three major-league appearances in 2024, with his last coming May 5 against the Cubs in which he allowed one run on three hits and one walk while striking out two across two frames.

  • Brewers' Janson Junk: Back with Brewers

The Brewers recalled Junk from Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday. Since his last appearance in the majors May 5, Junk has posted a 1.17 ERA and 1.24 WHIP alongside a 19:5 K:BB across 15.1 innings in Triple-A. He'll now be called upon to add depth to Milwaukee's bullpen as Enoli Paredes (forearm) heads to the injured list.

  • Brewers' Janson Junk: Back in Milwaukee

The Brewers recalled Junk from Triple-A Nashville on Saturday. Junk will come up from the minors to fill the open spot in Milwaukee's pitching staff following the demotion of Tobias Myers to Triple-A on Saturday. Junk made three appearances for the Brewers during his first big-league stint this season, giving up five earned runs over five innings. He's turned in a 2.45 ERA and 1.36 WHIP with Nashville since being sent back down, but he will likely be limited to low-leverage work in the majors. The 28-year-old righty also has experience as a starter, opening the door for a potential spot start if Joe Ross (back) isn't able to return from the injured list when eligible June 5.

  • Brewers' Janson Junk: Optioned to Triple-A

The Brewers optioned Junk to Triple-A Nashville on Monday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Junk's latest stint in the majors lasted just a few days and he didn't make an appearance. Joel Payamps is back from the bereavement list to absorb Junk's roster spot.

  • Brewers' Janson Junk: Recalled from Triple-A

The Brewers recalled Junk from Triple-A Nashville on Friday. Junk has permitted five runs on 13 hits and one walk over five relief innings with the Brewers this season. He will offer some potential length out of the bullpen behind starter Robert Gasser on Friday.

  • Brewers' Janson Junk: Sent back to minors

The Brewers optioned Junk to Triple-A Nashville on Monday. Junk was roughed up for five runs on 13 hits and one walk over five relief innings in his three relief appearances with the Brewers. He had been mostly starting at Nashville prior to the promotion and could re-enter the Triple-A club's rotation.

  • Brewers' Janson Junk: Recalled from Triple-A

The Brewers recalled Junk from Triple-A Nashville on Saturday. With the Brewers down another starting pitcher following the news that Wade Miley (elbow) will need to undergo Tommy John surgery, Junk will come up from the minors to presumably fill the open spot in Milwaukee's rotation. His time in the majors will likely be brief, as Jakob Junis (shoulder/head) and DL Hall (knee) are both projected to return from the injured list within the next couple of weeks. Jared Koenig was optioned to Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move.

  • Brewers' Janson Junk: Optioned out to Triple-A

Junk was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday. Junk was lit up for five runs -- four earned -- on seven hits and two walks over 4.2 innings in a spot start Wednesday against the Diamondbacks. Colin Rea has been recalled in a corresponding move and is starting Thursday night in San Diego.

  • Brewers' Janson Junk: Gives up five runs in spot start

Junk (0-1) took the loss Wednesday, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.2 innings during a 7-3 loss to Arizona. He struck out two. Junk was just called up from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday and filled in for Brandon Woodruff, who was recently moved to the 15-day injured list with a shoulder injury. The young right-hander struggled early and often, but his biggest blemish came on a three-run homer by Lourdes Gurriel in the third, which gave Arizona a 4-0 lead. Junk figures to remain in the rotation for another turn or two, but he's currently not an attractive streaming option.

  • Brewers' Janson Junk: Confirmed to start Wednesday

Brewers manager Craig Counsell confirmed after Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Diamondbacks that Junk will start the series finale in Arizona on Wednesday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. As expected after he was called up from Triple-A Nashville earlier Tuesday, Junk will be filling the rotation spot of Brandon Woodruff (shoulder), who was moved to the 15-day injured list. Junk had turned in a pair of five-inning outings over his first two appearances at Nashville, striking out seven while allowing just eight baserunners.

  • Brewers' Janson Junk: Called up, possibly starting

The Brewers recalled Junk from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday, and he could be a candidate to start Wednesday's game in Arizona, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports. Unless he's needed out of the bullpen in Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Junk will be joining the rotation as a replacement for Brandon Woodruff, who was placed on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation. Over his first two outings at Nashville, Junk has turned in a 0.90 ERA and 0.80 WHIP across 10 innings. Junk should be reasonably stretched out for Wednesday's start, but his poor track record in a limited sample of big-league action with the Angels in 2021 and 2022 makes him a risky streaming option.

  • Brewers' Janson Junk: Heads to minor-league camp

Junk was optioned Monday to Triple-A Nashville by the Brewers, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Acquired by the Brewers in the Hunter Renfroe deal over the winter, Junk allowed six runs in 8.1 innings for the Angels prior to being dealt and spent most of last season at the Triple-A level. The right-hander will likely be an up-and-down option for the Brewers in the 2023 season.

  • Angels' Janson Junk: Roughed up by Athletics

Junk (1-1) allowed six earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two across 2.1 innings to take the loss Thursday against the Athletics. Junk got through two innings without any trouble, but he allowed six of the first seven batters he faced to reach base to begin the third frame to sour his outing quickly. He could remain in the rotation moving forward if the team opts for a six-man rotation, even after the Angles recently promoted Touki Toussaint and acquired Tucker Davidson at the trade deadline. Junk has pitched primarily at Triple-A Salt Late this season and has maintained an impressive 3.88 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 40:11 K:BB across 48.2 innings at the level.

  • Angels' Janson Junk: Draws another start

Junk is slated to start Thursday's game against the Athletics in Anaheim. With Michael Lorenzen (shoulder) on the injured list and Noah Syndergaard having recently been dealt to the Phillies, Junk looks as though he could have a decent amount of leash in the Angels' six-man rotation if he continues to perform well. The right-hander impressed in his first start of the season with the Halos last week in Kansas City, spinning five shutout innings and striking out eight while allowing four hits and one walk.

  • Angels' Janson Junk: Fans eight in first MLB win

Junk (1-0) picked up the win Wednesday, scattering four hits and a walk over five-plus scoreless innings in a 4-0 victory over the Royals. He struck out eight. In his fifth career big-league start and first of the year, Junk put together an impressive performance as he didn't allow a Kansas City baserunner past second base while setting a career high in Ks and racking up his first MLB win. The right-hander only got the hook after walking Whit Merrifield to begin the sixth inning. Junk hasn't posted huge strikeout numbers in the minors, but this effort was likely good enough to keep him in the rotation for now, especially if the Angels trade away veteran arms like Noah Syndergaard by the deadline.
