  • Twins' Garrett Acton: Traded to Twins

The Marlins traded Acton to the Twins on Thursday in exchange for minor-league pitcher Logan Whitaker. The 27-year-old righty was DFA'd by the Marlins on Sunday to make room on the 40-man roster for Leo Jimenez. Acton has pitched 2.1 scoreless innings in Triple-A to begin the season, and moving into a Twins organization that doesn't have much bullpen depth should help his chances of returning to the big leagues at some point.

  • Marlins' Garrett Acton: Dropped from 40-man roster

Acton was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Sunday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Acton is the odd man out on Miami's 40-man roster after the team acquired infielder Leo Jimenez from the Blue Jays on Sunday. Acton has tossed 2.1 scoreless frames, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out four batters in two appearances with Triple-A Jacksonville so far this season. The 27-year-old was claimed off waivers by Miami after the Rockies let him go in late January, and he will now be available to be claimed by the rest of the league once again.

  • Marlins' Garrett Acton: Sent to Triple-A

The Marlins optioned Acton to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Acton was claimed off waivers from the Rockies last month and will begin the 2026 season in Triple-A after he appeared in just one major-league game out of the bullpen for the Rays last season. Acton produced a 3.68 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 71:27 K:BB across 58.2 innings for Triple-A Durham during the 2025 campaign.

  • Marlins' Garrett Acton: Scooped up by Marlins

The Marlins claimed Acton off waivers from the Rockies on Tuesday. Acton had previously been designated for assignment by the Rockies and has now been scooped up on waivers for the second time this offseason. The 27-year-old reliever made one scoreless appearance for the Rays in 2025 but spent most of the year at Triple-A Durham, where he held a 3.68 ERA and 71:27 K:BB over 58.2 frames. Acton will compete for a spot in Miami's bullpen.

  • Rockies' Garrett Acton: Claimed by Rockies

The Rockies claimed Acton off waivers from the Rays on Thursday. Acton posted a 3.68 ERA and 1.13 WHIP across 58.2 innings at Triple-A Durham in 2025, which is evidently enough for the Rockies to feel comfortable adding him to a very weak pitching staff. Colorado's lack of depth gives the 27-year-old a decent chance to break spring training with the big club; otherwise, he'll report to Triple-A Albuquerque.

  • Rays' Garrett Acton: Booted from 40-man roster

The Rays designated Acton for assignment Monday. Acton made one scoreless appearance for the Rays in 2025 but spent virtually all of his time at Triple-A Durham, where he held a 3.68 ERA and 71:27 K:BB over 58.2 frames. The 27-year-old is no longer on the 40-man roster but could stick around in the organization if he passes through waivers.

  • Rays' Garrett Acton: Sent back to minors

The Rays optioned Acton to Triple-A Durham on Monday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Acton is clearing out to make room on the roster for Joe Boyle, who is back up from Durham to start Monday's game versus the Blue Jays. The 27-year-old Acton made one appearance during his brief time with the Rays, pitching around a couple walks to throw a scoreless frame.

  • Rays' Garrett Acton: Gets deal from Rays

Acton signed a two-year, minor-league contract with the Rays on Monday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Acton was released by the Athletics in July after it was determined that he needed Tommy John surgery. He won't pitch in 2024 but will be invited to spring training in 2025. The 25-year-old was knocked around during his brief time in Oakland but boasts a 33 percent strikeout rate during his time in the minors.

  • Garrett Acton: Let go by Oakland

The Athletics released Acton (undisclosed) on Wednesday. Though Acton had been on Triple-A Las Vegas' 7-day injured list since June 14 with an unspecified injury, his release comes as somewhat of a surprise, given that the 25-year-old had been regarded as a promising relief prospect. Before getting hurt while pitching for Las Vegas, Acton made six appearances out of the Oakland bullpen earlier this season, posting a 12.71 ERA and 2.47 WHIP in 5.2 innings. The transaction opened up a spot on the Athletics' 40-man roster, but the organization could still look to bring Acton back on a minor-league contract if he can't fetch a better deal elsewhere.

  • Athletics' Garrett Acton: Moved to Triple-A

Oakland optioned Acton to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday. Acton has been pounded for eight runs over 5.2 innings with the Athletics since his call-up from Triple-A on May 14. The 24-year-old will try to get back on track with Las Vegas.

  • Athletics' Garrett Acton: Gets first big-league call-up

The Athletics selected Acton's contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday. Acton will get his first taste of the big leagues after logging a 4.01 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 30:6 K:BB across 24.2 innings for Las Vegas. The 24-year-old righty will provide Oakland with a multi-inning arm out of the bullpen.
