A hamstring injury limited Walker Jenkins to 73 non-rehab games in 2024, primarily at Single-A and High-A with a small taste of Double-A to close the campaign. His strong swing decisions and contact skill were on full display at every stop, logging walk rates over 10 percent and strikeout rates below 16 percent. A powerfully built 6-foot-3, 210-pound athlete, Jenkins isn't yet getting to all of his raw power in games, but he did slug .444 with six homers and 19 doubles. He isn't a burner, but Jenkins stole 14 bases on 17 attempts, and he should steal double-digit bases for the foreseeable future. It's rare to be able to project at least a plus hit tool for a 19-year-old with minimal upper-level experience, but Jenkins is a special hitter. He doesn't have alarming groundball or opposite-field tendencies, so given Jenkins' physical frame, he should tap into more and more power each year. Logging a full year without any lower-body injuries would be huge for Jenkins' development across the board, but especially as a power hitter. He is tracking towards an early-2026 big-league debut.

  • Twins' Walker Jenkins: Dealing with sprained ankle

Jenkins is roughly 1-to-2 weeks behind after suffering a mild ankle sprain last week, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Jenkins was sidelined for roughly two months last season due to a hamstring injury, though his sprained ankle doesn't seem to be nearly as serious. He may have to miss a few games during spring training, though the Twins don't believe his availability for the start of the minor-league season will be affected.

  • Twins' Walker Jenkins: Promoted to High-A

The Twins promoted Jenkins from Single-A Fort Myers to High-A Cedar Rapids on Monday. Jenkins' 2024 debut lasted one plate appearance before a strained left hamstring cost him two months, but since returning to action for Fort Myers in early June, he's been outstanding. The 19-year-old delivered elite walk (18.7 percent) and strikeout (11.2 percent) rates and slashed .279/.408/.426 over 152 plate appearances at Single-A to earn the promotion.

  • Twins' Walker Jenkins: Returns from hamstring injury

Jenkins (hamstring) was activated from the 7-day IL and went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Tuesday's win for Single-A Fort Myers. He batted second and played center field. Jenkins made just one plate appearance for Single-A Fort Myers before straining his left hamstring and landing on the 7-day injured list on April 9. He hit .393 (11-for-28) with a 1.085 OPS during nine rehab games for the Twins' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate. As one the top prospects in baseball heading into the season, Jenkins was thought to be in store for a brief pit stop at Fort Myers to begin the season before heading to High-A Cedar Rapids, but the injury could slow his ascent through the Twins' farm system.

  • Twins' Walker Jenkins: Lands on IL with strained hamstring

Jenkins was placed on the 7-day injured list Monday with Single-A Fort Myers due to a strained left hamstring. He exited Friday's game with the injury, which also happened to be Opening Day for the Mighty Mussels, so Jenkins has just one plate appearance (and one strikeout) to his name this season. The expectation is that once Jenkins is healthy, he will quickly force a promotion to High-A, as he had a 1.054 OPS in 12 games at Single-A last year and is one of the best prospects in baseball.

  • Twins' Walker Jenkins: Leaves game with hamstring injury

Jenkins left Single-A Fort Myers' game Friday against Tampa early with a hamstring issue, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Jenkins missed some time in spring training due to a quadricep strain, so it's less than ideal that he's dealing with another soft-tissue injury coming out of Fort Myers' first game of the season. He struck out in his lone at-bat Friday before departing.

  • Twins' Walker Jenkins: Nursing quad strain

Jenkins won't play Saturday in the Twins' Spring Breakout game against the Rays due to a quadricep strain, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Jenkins is still able to hit but was scratched because he's not able to run at full speed. The top prospect is expected to be good to go by the time the minor-league season begins in early April. Jenkins dominated during a short stint at Single-A Fort Myers in 2023 but could head back to the affiliate to start the 2024 season, given that he just turned 19 less than a month ago.
