  • Diamondbacks' Corbin Carroll: Double, steal in loss

Carroll went 1-for-4 with a double and a stolen base in Saturday's 5-0 loss to the Padres. Carroll had one of two hits for Arizona, but the team couldn't deliver a knock with runners in scoring position in a game that could prove to be crucial for its wild-card chances. He doubled to lead off the sixth inning and moved to third on a double steal but was stranded there. Carroll has hit safely in five straight, going 6-for-19 with a double, home runs, three walks, two steals, two RBI and three runs scored.

  • Diamondbacks' Corbin Carroll: Homer, steal in loss

Carroll went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks and a stolen base in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Padres. Carroll has hit safely in four straight games, going 5-for-15 in that span. His homer Friday was his first extra-base hit since his two-homer game in Colorado on Sept. 18. The outfielder has played in a career-high 156 games this season, producing 22 homers, 33 steals, 74 RBI, 120 runs scored and a .232/.313/.430 slash line, results well off the marks he established in 2023. However, he has a manageable 19.1 percent strikeout rate, so most of his downturn in production can be attributed to poor luck.

Carroll is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers. As Jack Sommers of Sports Illustrated notes, the Diamondbacks' lineup came out late Sunday and at this point it's unclear whether Carroll's absence is due to injury. Pavin Smith will get the start in right field and lead off against right-hander Frankie Montas.

Carroll went 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a hit-by-pitch in Tuesday's 8-2 loss to Colorado. Carroll swiped his 29th bag of the season in the third inning but was stranded at second base. Following a hot stretch during the month of August, Carroll's bat has faded; he's batting .220 (9-for-41) with one RBI over the last 11 games.

  • Diamondbacks' Corbin Carroll: Triples, scores in loss

Carroll went 1-for-3 with a walk, a triple and a run scored in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Rockies. Carroll tripled to lead off the game and trotted home on Ketel Marte's home run. It was Carroll's league-leading 14th triple. The run scored was his 112th, which ranks tied for fifth in MLB and is somewhat remarkable given the slump he endured during the first half of the season. Since the All-Star break, Carroll has a .944 OPS with 14 homers, eight triples, five doubles, 22 walks, 10 steals, 35 RBI and 52 runs scored over 52 games.

Carroll went 0-for-2 with a walk, a hit-by-pitch and a stolen base in Friday's 5-2 win over the Cubs. Carroll stole his team-leading 19th base in the fourth inning when he swiped second base. He eventually got to third base with one out, but the Diamondbacks were unable to get him home. Of note, as was the practice in the weeks leading up to the All-Star break, Carroll remained in the lower third of the order against a left-handed starter.

  • Diamondbacks' Corbin Carroll: Resting Sunday

Carroll is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays. After starting each of the last four games, the lefty-hitting Carroll will get a breather as the Diamondbacks close out their pre-All-Star-break schedule with a matchup against a southpaw (Yusei Kikuchi). Carroll has endured a disappointing first half in which he's slashed just .213/.300/.335, but he turned in two big games in his starts against Toronto earlier in the weekend, going 3-for-8 with two home runs, two walks, two stolen bases, seven RBI and four runs between those contests. Fantasy managers will maintain hope that Saturday's two-home-run performance in particular portends a big second half for the 23-year-old outfielder.
