Alex Ramirez: Non-tendered by Mets
The Mets non-tendered Ramirez on Friday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Ramirez spent the entire 2024 regular season in Double-A Binghamton, slashing .210/.291/.299 with 39 stolen bases, five home runs and 46 RBI over 540 plate appearances. Ramirez will enter free agency and should garner interest from teams interested in developing the 21-year-old outfielder.

Mets' Alex Ramirez: Optioned to Double-A
Ramirez was optioned to Double-A Binghamton by the Mets on Friday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
Ramirez was deemed worthy of a spot on the Mets' 40-man roster this offseason but is still in need of plenty of development. The 21-year-old has loads of potential but slashed just .223/.312/.319 at High-A Brooklyn in 2023.

Mets' Alex Ramirez: Selected to 40-man
The Mets added Ramirez to their 40-man roster Tuesday.
Ramirez struggled at High-A Brooklyn last season with a .223/.312/.319 slash line through 520 plate appearances. Nonetheless, the Mets deemed the 20-year-old outfielder worthy of a roster spot, preventing him from being stolen away in the Rule 5 Draft. Ramirez will likely return to Brooklyn or be promoted to Double-A Binghamton to begin next season.

Mets' Alex Ramirez: Power outage at High-A
Ramirez has a .224/.329/.322 slash line and an 86 wRC+ in 77 games for High-A Brooklyn.
Ramirez is still just 20 years old, but this does count as a repeat tour of the Sally League, where he played 54 games and put up better stats (.278/.329/.427 slash line, 106 wRC+) a season ago. Particularly troubling are Ramirez's .098 ISO and 24.1 percent hard-hit rate, as he is at a stage in his development where he should be tapping into more power, not less. He only has five home runs on the season and has not homered since June 6. The one positive takeaway is that his 12.8 percent walk rate is easily a career high.

Mets' Alex Ramirez: Lengthy power drought
Ramirez hasn't hit a home run for High-A Brooklyn since smashing two back on July 31, and he's hit just .250/.302/.325 across 28 games since then.
After getting off to a cold start in High-A, Ramirez lit on fire for an 11-game span, smashing five homers while hitting .442/500/.837 in the second half of July. Unfortunately, those are the only five long balls he's hit through 48 High-A ballgames. That stretch buoyed his overall numbers at the level, which look respectable at .270/.326/.425 but would look pretty miserable without that two-week hot streak factored in.

Mets' Alex Ramirez: Cold since promotion
Ramirez has gone just 5-for-28 (.179) with three doubles and a triple since being promoted to High-A Brooklyn.
Ramirez performed pretty well overall at Single-A St. Lucie before moving up, albeit not without some caveats -- while he posted a .284/.359/.443 batting line with six homers and 17 steals, the 19-year-old benefited from a .357 BABIP and was caught stealing nine times. That line also looks a lot worse when you factor in that he opened 2022 on fire, batting .353 with a .916 OPS through the first 36 games of the season; Ramirez has hit .192 with a .648 OPS in his last 38 games spanning Single-A and High-A.

Mets' Alex Ramirez: Blistering start to season
Ramirez went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and a stolen base for Single-A St. Lucie on Wednesday.
The performance comes a day after Ramirez banged out four hits against Palm Beach. Through 20 games this season, the 19-year-old is slashing .372/.413/.547 with 11 extra-base hits (eight doubles, two triples and a homer). There are some minor blemishes on his line, including a 2-for-4 showing on stolen-base attempts, but Ramirez is simply dominating at the plate, and his 19.6 percent strikeout rate is a massive improvement on the 31.1 percent mark he posted in his full-season debut for St. Lucie in 2021. Expect the Mets to bump Ramirez, their No. 4 fantasy prospect, up to High-A Brooklyn in short order.

Mets' Alexander Ramirez: Set to begin pro career
Ramirez was assigned to Low-A St. Lucie Tuesday, Jacob Resnick of SNYtv reports.
The Mets inked Ramirez to a $2.05 million deal in 2019, when he was just 16 years old. Considered one of New York's top 10 prospects, he is now set to begin his professional career in Low-A ball.
