Nationals' Neal Cotts: Reassigned to minor-league camp
Cotts was reassigned to the Nationals' minor-league camp Wednesday, MLB.com's Jamal Collier reports.
Cotts was a useful bullpen piece for the Brewers and Twins in 2015, but after failing to find much success while pitching exclusively at the Triple-A level last season, he was forced to settle for a minor-league deal with the Nats in the offseason. While he threw respectably in spring training, Cotts didn't shine nearly enough for the Nationals to justify opening up a 40-man roster spot for him. Assuming he decides to stick with the organization, Cotts figures to open the campaign with Triple-A Syracuse.

Nationals' Neal Cotts: Signs with Nationals
Cotts signed a minor league deal with the Nationals on Thursday that includes an invitation to spring training, The Washington Post reports.
He spent all of last season at Triple-A, bouncing between the Angels', Yankees', and Rangers' systems, and the 36-year-old has a career 4.36 ERA in 443.1 major league innings. Barring a rash of injuries in the Nats' bullpen, Cotts will likely only be organizational depth for the team.

Rangers' Neal Cotts: Contract selected by Rangers on Monday
Cotts' minor league contract was selected by the Rangers, and he was assigned to Triple-A Round Rock.
Cotts has pitched 21.0 innings for a 3.86 ERA and 1.14 WHIP as a reliever at the Triple-A level in 2016. He was released by the Yankees on June 13. The veteran relief pitcher will be used mostly for organizational depth in the bullpen.

Cotts, who signed a minor league contract with the team May 20, had a 3.86 ERA in 21 innings this season for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The 36-year-old reliever has not pitched in the majors since ending last season with Minnesota and now leaves his third minor league team this season. Cotts has clearly shown signs of decline and faces an uphill battle to return to the majors.

Cotts signed a minor league contract with the Yankees on Friday and he will be assigned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
After opting out of his contract with the Angels on Wednesday, Cotts inked another minor league deal with the Yankees on Friday. The Yankees haven't been shy about shuttling relievers back and forth from the minors this season, so it's possible that Cotts gets a look at some point down the line. That said, the Yankees have the back end of their bullpen cemented, so Cotts' fantasy upside is nearly non-existent.

Cotts was playing for Triple-A Salt Lake City, but chose to opt out of deal. The Angels decided not to place him on the 25-man roster, and instead released him. He pitched 13.2 innings for Triple-A Salt Lake City, with an ERA of 3.95 and nine strikeouts.

Cotts signed a minor league contract with the Angels on Sunday, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
Cotts is scheduled to report to Triple-A Salt Lake, where he'll look to parlay strong performance into a spot in the big league bullpen. The southpaw tallied a 3.41 ERA over 63.1 innings with the Brewers and Twins last season and could be a weapon for the Angels against opposing lefty bats.

Astros' Neal Cotts: Decision looming on roster status
Houston will have to make a decision whether Cotts will make the Opening Day roster by the end of the week, as the opt-out date of his minor league deal is approaching, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Cotts, 35, has a 3.38 spring ERA over 5.1 Grapefruit League innings. The veteran is competing with fellow southpaws Wandy Rodriguez, Kevin Chapman and Edwar Cabrera for a roster spot with the Astros.

Cotts signed a minor league deal with the Astros on Friday, MLB.com reports.
The 35-year-old appeared in 68 games for the Brewers and Twins last season and holds a career 3.96 ERA across 443.3 innings. Houston has been in search of left-handed help out of the bullpen, and Cotts figures to compete with the likes of Edwar Cabrera, Wandy Rodriguez and Kevin Chapman in spring training for a chance at a 25-man roster spot. "There's a lot of Major League quality free agents still on the market, and we felt it was an opportunity to add to our bullpen options," manager A.J. Hinch said. "We have a little bit of a shortage of left-handed relievers, depending on where Wandy fits in, Chapman and Cabrera. Adding another left-handed option with his experience will give us some choices at the end of camp."
