Marlins' Don Kelly: Assigned outright to Triple-A
Kelly was outrighted to Triple-A New Orleans on Saturday, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.
Designated for assignment earlier in the week, Kelly has accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 36-year-old will likely play out the rest of the year as organizational depth in the minors now that he's off the 40-man roster.

The Marlins needed to clear a spot for Dee Gordon, who finished serving his 80-game PED suspension, and Kelly was the victim. He should pass through waivers and head to Triple-A to serve as organizational infield depth.

Marlins' Don Kelly: Triples twice with time running out
Kelly went 3-for-5 with two triples, two RBI and two runs in Wednesday's blowout victory over the Phillies.
The veteran made the most of his spot start Wednesday, notching more hits than he's had combined in all of this season and last. Kelly is providing depth at corner infield for the Marlins while Justin Bour (ankle) is on the DL, but with Bour slated to return soon, the 36-year-old's time on the roster may soon come to an end. He may be worth a punt play in daily leagues if he draws another start before Bour returns.

Marlins' Don Kelly: Called up from Triple-A
Kelly had his contract selected from Triple-A New Orleans on Wednesday, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports. He will start at first base and bat seventh in the order for the afternoon matchup against the Mets.
Kelly has been with the Marlins on a minor league deal since the beginning of the regular season, posting a .561 OPS through 48 games for the Zephyrs. He'll provide Miami with corner infield depth in the short term, as Justin Bour (ankle) was placed on the DL on Wednesday in a corresponding move.

After a solid spring, Kelly was released by the Marlins on Tuesday, but signed with the team Wednesday on a minor league deal. He could surface on the team if a rash of injuries strike, but he's likely to be infield organizational depth.

Kelly has been granted his release, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
A non-roster invitee to spring training, Kelly had just six hits (all single) over 24 at-bats in the Grapefruit League. He made a quick recovery from Tommy John surgery in July, and he may end up re-signing with the Marlins on a minor league contact.
