Indians' Chris Narveson: Transfers to Double-A Akron
Narveson was moved to Double-A Akron on Thursday.
Narveson had posted a 3.68 ERA with a 1.45 WHIP during eight starts with Triple-A Columbus this season. The 35-year-old missed a full month of action with a sore left shoulder, but had played well enough when he was on the mound this year to provide organizational depth for the team. At this point in his career, Narveson may have trouble getting back to the big leagues, especially with just 8.1 innings pitched in the majors these past two years. In a corresponding move, the team promoted right-hander Nick Pasquale from Akron.

Indians' Chris Narveson: Reinstated from DL
Narveson (shoulder) was reinstated from the 7-day disabled list Wednesday.
Narveson will start the second game of the doubleheader for Triple-A Columbus as he returns to regular action in the minors. The veteran southpaw has put together a 4.15 ERA over three starts this season with Columbus after appearing in six games last season with the Marlins.

Narveson was placed on the disabled list with a sore left shoulder Wednesday.
There's no timetable as to Narveson's return, but it's certainly concerning as to his potential for a call-up this season. The 35-year-old has posted a 4.15 ERA and 1.21 WHIP for Triple-A Columbus this season, exiting his last start after allowing six earned runs over just 3.2 innings.

Indians' Chris Narveson: Signs minor-league contract with Tribe
Narveson signed a minor-league contract with the Indians on Tuesday, Paul Hoynes of Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Narveson's deal includes an invitation to big-league camp, so he'll receive an opportunity to audition for a bullpen gig. The 35-year-old served mostly as a starter and long reliever with Triple-A New Orleans last season, going 4-6 with a 3.41 ERA in 20 outings, but he'd likely serve as more of a lefty specialist if he surfaces with the Indians at any point. The southpaw held lefties to a .218 batting average in 119 at-bats at Triple-A in 2016.

Marlins' Chris Narveson: Designated for assignment Friday
Narveson was designated for assignment Friday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
Narveson allowed eight runs over just 8.1 innings with the Marlins this season, posting an 8.64 ERA and 1.44 WHIP. However, he's posted better numbers at Triple-A New Orleans, where he owns a 3.48 ERA and 1.19 WHIP over 18 games. In a corresponding move, Xavier Scruggs's contract was selected by Miami.

Marlins' Chris Narveson: Recalled Tuesday
Narveson was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on Tuesday, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.
Narveson has spent the majority of 2016 with Miami's Triple-A affiliate, posting a 3.48 ERA and 1.19 WHIP over 82.2 innings, but will now get another crack at major league action. While he's been used primarily as a starter in the minors, he pitched only in relief during his six major league appearances this season so it will be interesting to see how the Marlins choose to use him this time around.

Narveson was designated for assignment Thursday, but no team ended up snatching the left-hander up. He'll head to the minor leagues and act as organizational pitching depth unless the Marlins bullpen gets hit by injuries as badly as it did during spring training.

Narveson made the Marlins' roster out of camp, but he's struggled out to an 8.64 ERA through six appearances. The 34-year-old has allowed eight earned runs on 10 hits, including three home runs, while striking out only six batters. To take his place on the roster, right-hander Jose Urena has been recalled from Triple-A New Orleans.

Narveson started and pitched three shutout innings to earn the win against the Mets on Tuesday, while giving up two hits and striking out one batter.
This was Narveson's best appearance so far during spring training, earning his second win. The veteran pitcher has given up six runs through 12 innings pitched for Miami in the spring and will battle most of the year to gain a spot in Miami's rotation, but will likely be outside of the starting rotation on Opening Day.

The veteran left-hander made 15 appearances with the Marlins last season, including two starts, and finished the year with a 4.45 ERA over 30.1 innings of work. With very few lefties slotted to make the Marlins' bullpen come opening day, Narveson figures to be given a shot to compete for a left-handed specialist role this spring.
