Andre Ethier: Announces retirement
Ethier announced his retirement Wednesday, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Ethier denied reports that he intended to retire back in November, but his retirement ended up being forced on him, as no team wanted to sign a 36-year-old who had been limited by injuries to just 64 plate appearances over the last two seasons. The veteran will end a 12-year career, spent entirely with the Dodgers, with a .285/.359/.463 line, 1,367 hits and 162 homers. He holds the Dodgers' record for most career postseason games, appearing in 51.

Andre Ethier: Refutes retirement report
Ethier announced Sunday that the reports of his plans to retire were "totally untrue," Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
A now deleted report from Robert Murray of FanRag Sports claimed Ethier had informed family and friends of his plans to retire from the MLB, but the veteran outfielder quickly shot those rumors down. According to Ethier, multiple teams have already shown interest in acquiring his services, and he's currently planning on remaining in the big leagues for his 13th major-league season.

Andre Ethier: Plans to retire
Ethier has informed his family and friends that he plans to retire from professional baseball, Robert Murray of FanRag Sports reports.
Ethier had his club option declined by the Dodgers this offseason after appearing in just 22 games during his injury-plagued 2017 season. The 35-year-old will close his successful 12-year playing career with two All-Star appearances and a Gold Glove to his name.

Andre Ethier: Has 2018 option declined
The Dodgers declined Ethier's 2018 option Sunday, making him a free agent, Eric Stephen of TrueBlueLA.com reports.
Rather than keep Ethier on the team for the 2018 season and pay him $17.5 million, the Dodgers turned down their option on Ethier and bought out his contract for $2.5 million. Injuries have been the focal point of the last two seasons for Ethier, as he's played in a combined 38 games in that time. During the 2017 campaign he played in 22 games, over which he slashed .235/.348/.441.

Dodgers' Andre Ethier: Smacks second homer of season
Ethier hit a pinch-hit home run in Thursday's win over the Phillies.
His second home run of the season was a big one, as it tied the game in the seventh inning as the Dodgers were facing a four-game series sweep. Ethier has played primarily off the bench since his activation from the DL on Sept. 1, but he's made the most of his limited opportunities and in turn has put himself in the mix for a spot on the NLDS roster.

Dodgers' Andre Ethier: Collects two hits in start
Ethier started in left field and went 2-for-2 before being lifted for a pinch hitter in Sunday's loss to the Rockies.
Ethier homered off the bench Saturday and was rewarded with his third start since returning from the 60-day DL on Sept. 1. The 35-year-old is one of many left-field options manager Dave Roberts has at his disposal, and given his lengthy injury history, he's unlikely to be pressed into a regular role.
