Nate Schierholtz: Suspended for 80 games
Schierholtz (suspension) was suspended for 80 games on Friday for a violation of the performance-enhancing substance Ibutamoren, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Schierholtz was released by the Tigers in May, and hasn't been able to latch onto a new club since. This suspension won't help, and the 32-year-old might've played his last game in the major leagues. Throughout his career, Schierholtz is a .253/.302/.405 hitter, with 52 home runs and 228 RBI during 799 games for four different organizations.

Nate Schierholtz: Released by Tigers on Monday
Schierholtz was released by the Tigers on Monday, John Wagner of the Toledo Blade reports.
After Jason Krizan was promoted to Triple-A, a roster spot needed to be cleared for him. Schierholtz ended up being the casualty after battling injuries all season and batting just .246 in 31 games with the Mud Hens. He has a fair amount of major league experience that could help him garner a new minor league contract with another team, but he'll likely continue to act as organizational depth in whatever organization he lands with.

Tigers' Nate Schierholtz: Assigned to minor league camp
Schierholtz was assigned to minor league camp Thursday.
Even with Cameron Maybin (wrist) likely to miss the first few weeks of the regular season, Schierholtz wasn't able to earn a spot on Detroit's Opening Day roster. The 32-year-old outfielder was a non-roster invitee to spring training, after spending the 2015 season in Japan.

Tigers' Nate Schierholtz: Signs with Tigers
Schierholtz agreed to a minor league contract with the Tigers on Wednesday that includes an invitation to spring training.
Schierholtz spent the 2015 season in Japan after he failed to make the Rangers' Opening Day roster, but he'll take another crack at the majors again next season. He'll be 32 years old by the end of the offseason and held a slash line of just .195/.243/.309 his last time around in 2014 though, so he could start the year in the minors.
