Athletics' Zach Jackson: Solid over first two appearances
Jackson has allowed an earned run on two hits and a walk while also recording two strikeouts across two innings in his first two appearances.
The right-hander was one of three non-roster invitees to make the Athletics' Opening Day roster, and manager Mark Kotsay has wasted no time in throwing the rookie into action. Jackson fired a scoreless inning in his major-league debut against the Phillies on Saturday before yielding an RBI fielder's choice to Josh Lowe over an inning in Monday's win. The 27-year-old brings no shortage of strikeout upside, having produced double-digit K/9s in all but one of his eight minor-league stops.

Athletics' Zach Jackson: Contract selected Thursday
Jackson's contract was selected by Oakland on Thursday, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Jackson posted a 1.35 ERA, 11:2 K:BB and 1.05 WHIP in 6.2 innings across six Cactus League appearances this spring, and he'll be rewarded with a spot in the Opening Day bullpen. The right-hander should serve mainly as a low-leverage reliever as he prepares to make his major-league debut.

Athletics' Zach Jackson: Makes major-league roster
Jackson was informed Sunday that he's made the Athletics' Opening Day roster, Scott Bordow of MLB.com reports.
Jackson made 25 relief appearances in the minors last year and posted a 2.57 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 28 innings. Although the right-hander is unlikely to serve in a high-leverage role in Oakland's bullpen, he'll be rewarded with a major-league roster spot after recording a 1.80 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 8:2 K:BB in five innings across five relief appearances this spring.

Blue Jays' Zach Jackson: Bumped up to High-A
Jackson was promoted Saturday from Low-A Lansing to High-A Dunedin, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
The Jays' third-round pick last year had no trouble with hitters in the Midwest League. Over 15 contests with Lansing, Jackson limited opponents to a .181 BAA while notching 25 strikeouts in 20 innings. The 22-year-old right-hander is moving in the right direction during his first year as a professional.
