Cardinals' Edward Mujica: Inks minors deal with Cardinals
Mujica signed a minor-league contract with St. Louis on Thursday, Derrick Gould of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Mujica has been toiling around the Triple-A level for the last two seasons, only appearing in five big-league games during that span. In those contests with the Tigers in 2017, he allowed seven earned runs in 6.1 innings of relief and hasn't been able to find the All-Star form that he displayed during his first go-around with the Cardinals in 2012-13. He will likely begin the year at Triple-A yet again while serving as organizational depth.

Tigers' Edward Mujica: Clears waivers, heads to Triple-A
Mujica cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.
Mujica struggled mightily during his brief stint with the big club, allowing seven runs and serving up four homers across 6.1 innings pitched before being ousted from the 40-man roster. He'll report back to Triple-A, where he should continue to serve as an organizational depth piece.

Tigers' Edward Mujica: Dropped from roster
Mujica was designated for assignment Sunday.
Upon joining the Tigers earlier this month shortly after Justin Wilson was traded to the Cubs, Mujica immediately stepped into a setup role, recording a hold in his first appearance with the Tigers. However, it's all been downhill from there for Mujica, who has surrendered runs in three of his last four appearances and has served up four long balls in just 6.1 innings with the big club. Now that he's been dropped from the Tigers' 40-man roster, Mujica will likely report back to Triple-A Toledo if he clears waivers. The Tigers selected the contract of Jeff Ferrell from Toledo to replace Mujica in the bullpen.

Tigers' Edward Mujica: Snags hold in Tigers debut
Mujica recorded a hold in Thursday's win over the Orioles. He pitched two innings, allowing an earned run on two hits while striking out two.
Mujica was called up from Triple-A Toledo before the game, and he promptly found himself pitching both the seventh and eighth innings. The veteran was solid at Triple-A, posting a 2.35 ERA and 1.00 WHIP across 46 innings, so he could find himself sticking in a fairly high-leverage role in a thin Detroit bullpen. However, Shane Greene is the choice for saves right now in Detroit, and the club will likely give him a long look in the closer role as the Tigers look toward next season.

Tigers' Edward Mujica: Will join big-league club
The Tigers will promote Mujica on Thursday, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports.
The right-hander has dominated Triple-A Toledo this season, spinning a 2.35 ERA with 38 strikeouts, five walks and 12 saves in 46 innings. Despite his closer experience with the Mud Hens and the 50 saves on his major-league resume, Mujica probably won't score many -- if any -- opportunities, especially after Shane Greene's recent pair of conversions backed up the club's declaration of his new role. Mujica may help in some fantasy leagues that count holds, but he may need time to work his way into a high-leverage gig, and the floundering Tigers may not provide many of those anyway.

Mujica was released by the Royals on Thursday, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
The veteran was released by the Phillies in July and subsequently scooped up by the Royals on a minor league deal. While he's posted a respectable 4.76 ERA across 51.0 Triple-A innings in 2016, Mujica will again become a free agent, and he'll now look elsewhere for a clearer path back to the major leagues.

Mujica signed a minor league deal with Kansas City on Friday.
It didn't take long for Mujica to find another big league club as the Royals scooped him up a day after being released by the Phillies. Mujica will now head to Kansas City's Triple-A affiliate, the Omaha Storm Chasers, to continue his 2016 campaign. The 32-year-old reliever made 36 appearances for Triple-A Lehigh Valley in the Phillies system this season, compiling a 4.38 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over 39 innings.

Mujica had compiled a 3.69 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP for the Phillies' Triple-A club this season at the time he requested, and was granted his release from the team. The 32-year-old reliever chose to pursue a different organization through free agency instead of sticking around and potentially getting traded in the next couple weeks, or continuing with Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Mujica's last appearance in the majors was with the A's in 2015, where he spent 33.2 innings of work, allowing 18 earned runs and accumulating 22 strikeouts.

Phillies' Edward Mujica: Pitching well in Triple-A
Mujica has a 3.86 ERA, 21 saves and a 25:3 K:BB in 35 innings for Triple-A Lehigh Valley this season.
The veteran reliever was recently named to the International League All-Star team. He could get an opportunity with the Phillies later this month if the team deals some of their veteran bullpen pieces before the trade deadline.
