Charles Oliveira stunned many MMA fans when he scored an upset of Dustin Poirier to retain the lightweight championship at UFC 269. But it was Julianna Pena who truly shocked the world, dominating Amanda Nunes, the consensus greatest fighter in women's MMA history, to become women's bantamweight champion.

Pena finished Nunes with a rear-naked choke in the second round of their co-main event clash, scoring the sport's biggest upset of 2021. With the win, Pena jumped to the top of the women's bantamweight division in the CBS Sports UFC Divisional Rankings. Interestingly, Pena was tied with Nunes and the two now share the No. 1 ranking.

Oliveira was in a similarly strange situation heading into UFC 269, holding the No. 2 ranking despite being the division champion. Poirier was largely considered the division's "uncrowned champion" and his choice to fight a third bout with Conor McGregor rather than pursuing the title left the door open for Oliveira to win the vacant belt against Michael Chandler. Oliveira survived a few scares in the bout with Poirier before ultimately finishing the fight with a third-round rear-naked choke.

Oliveira now stands as the clear No. 1 lightweight in the world while Poirier dropped to No. 3, one spot behind Justin Gaethje.

Saturday's UFC Fight Night features two fights involving CBS Sports ranked fighters.

  • Heavyweight: No. 5 Derrick Lewis vs. No. 8 Chris Daukaus
  • Welterweight: No. 6 Stephen Thompson vs. Belal Muhammad

Rankings are compiled following the submission of ballots by Brent Brookhouse, Brian Campbell, Brandon Wise and Shakiel Mahjouri. Without further ado, here's where things stand ahead of Saturday's card.
