For basketball fans who are pumped for the start of the NBA playoffs, it might be worth it to check out BetMGM's promo code. New users can receive up to $1,500 in bonus bets, so let's explore all the details about the offers and look at the first round of the playoffs.

In addition to its welcome bonus, BetMGM is offering all users additional promotions, which will be discussed below.

How to claim BetMGM promo code

If you're a first-time user with BetMGM and curious how to get up to $1,500 in bonus bets, here are the steps.

  1. Click "Claim Bonus" on this page, which will direct your to BetMGM
  2. Create a BetMGM Sportsbook account and make sure to enter the promo code CBSSPORTS
  3. Deposit $10 or more
  4. Make your first bet at any odds

New BetMGM users can get up to a maximum of $1,500 in bonus bets if their first bet loses. If the first wager is $50 or lower and loses, you'll receive one bonus bet token that is equal to what that first wager was. If the first bet is more than $50 and loses, you'd obtain five bonus bets worth the same amount—with each being one-fifth (or 20%) of your first bet. So if you put down $1,000 for your first bet and it lost, you'd receive five $200 bonus bets. All bonus bets will expire in seven days. If you win a wager using bonus bets, you'd receive only the winnings in your payout, not the initial stake back since it was placed using bonus bets.

New users must be 21+ to sign up for BetMGM.

BetMGM promos for existing users

If you are already a BetMGM user, you should not feel left out. That is because throughout the NBA playoffs, BetMGM has additional offers for NBA bettors:

  • NBA Second Chance: For every game of the playoffs, if you bet on a player to score the first field goal and he does not, but does score the second, you get your wager back in cash.
  • NBA Odds Boost Tokens: Every other day throughout the playoffs, NBA bettors can score a bigger payout on winning bets. See your BetMGM promos tab for more details.

Along with BetMGM, Fanatics Sportsbook is also offering a first bet promo. The difference there is that Fanatics will match up to $100 in bonus bets in your first 10 days with the sportsbook if your first bet each day loses. So you could earn up to $1,000 in bonus bets with Fanatics, which is still lower than BetMGM's $1,500 bonus bet maximum.

The other offers from sportsbooks are mostly "bet and get" promos. FanDuel offers the most in bonus bets at $250, but you have to win your first bet of at least $5 to receive the reward. DraftKings ($200) and bet365 ($150) offer smaller bonus bet amounts, but you get them automatically after a first bet of at least $5. The one exception to this is Caesars, which is giving new customers 10 100% profit boost tokens to potentially double your winnings after a first bet of $1 or more.

Previewing the first round of the NBA playoffs

The first round of the NBA postseason got underway over the weekend, with every series having completed Game 1. The Cleveland Cavaliers will take on the Miami Heat, the first No. 10 seed to ever survive the Play-In. In the Western Conference, the Memphis Grizzlies dispatched the Dallas Mavericks and have a date with the Oklahoma City Thunder as their reward.

The defending champion Boston Celtics are the biggest favorites of any matchup, as No. 2-seeded Boston is -5000 to advance while the No. 7 Orlando Magic are +1600 longshots. In the two other Eastern Conference matchups, the No. 3 New York Knicks were -425 and the No. 6 Detroit Pistons were +325 entering the series, while the No. 4 Indiana Pacers were -210 and the No. 5 Milwaukee Bucks were +170 before Indiana took Game 1.

The better seeds were all favorites in Eastern Conference first-round series betting, but that is not the case in the Western Conference. The No. 7 Golden State Warriors are -190 chalk against the No. 2 Houston Rockets (+160) and the No. 5 Los Angeles Clippers were priced at -125 vs. the No. 4 Denver Nuggets (+105) (that flipped after Denver won Game 1 in overtime). The one exception entering the weekend was the No. 3 Los Angeles Lakers being -200 against the No. 6 Minnesota Timberwolves, while Minnesota was at +165 to pull off the upset, which it did in the series opener.
