Rockets add Tarik Black
The Rockets added another strong big man to their front court with Tarik Black. The former Lakers big man spent a brief moment of his career in Houston before he was waived for roster space. Black is a solid rim protector and energy guy, the exact type of player the Rockets like to have.
Magic add Simmons
Jonathon Simmons has a new home. Just a few years after attending an open tryout for the then-D-League, Simmons has reportedly agreed to a three-year deal with the Orlando Magic, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical. (Updated July 14 at 4:28 p.m. ET)
Celtics give Nader four years
The Celtics made a surprising signing Friday when they signed second-round pick Abdel Nader to a four-year deal. Second rounders getting a contract isn't always guaranteed, and then they're usually for two to three years. Boston must have a lot of faith in this Nader to give him four years even if they're likely not all guaranteed. (Updated July 14 at 4:25 p.m. ET)
Collison returning for one last season with Thunder
Between the Seattle SuperSonics and the Oklahoma City Thunder, Nick Collison has spent his entire career with just one franchise. And according to a report from The Vertical's Shams Charania, it will stay that way, as Collison has agreed with the Thunder on a one-year deal that will be the end of his NBA career. Clips still engaged with Mbah a Moute
The Los Angeles Clippers have had quite the busy summer, but according to a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the team is not done, as they're still engaged with Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, but their financial situation could make it difficult to keep the veteran forward around. Bucks set to meet with Rose
The Milwaukee Bucks met with free agent point guard Derrick Rose earlier in the free agent process, and with the former MVP still on the market, ESPN's Chris Haynes has reported that the two sides are expected to meet once again in the coming days. (Updated July 14 at 9:41 a.m. ET)
Jazz waive Diaw
Boris Diaw's time in Utah turned out to be shortlived. The Jazz have waived the veteran forward after just one season, according to a report from Shams Charania of The Vertical. The final year of Diaw's contract was fully non-guaranteed if he was waived before July 15. (Updated July 13 at 5:24 p.m. ET)
Spurs discussed Simmons for Chandler trade
The Spurs have renounced free agent Jonathon Simmons, according to multiple sources, but the San Antonio Express-News reports that before rescinding their $1.6 million qualifying offer, San Antonio was in discussions with the Suns to deal Simmons for center Tyson Chandler. The Spurs reportedly backed out at the last minute, not wanting to absorb the two years and $26 million left on Chandler's contract. (Updated July 13 at 3:20 p.m. ET)
Knicks exploring trade for Eric Bledsoe
The Knicks are in the market for a veteran point guard, according to the New York Post, and they're reportedly chasing dynamic Suns guard Eric Bledsoe. The Knicks could potentially offer a future first-round pick and Courtney Lee to reunite Bledsoe with Jeff Hornacek, who coached him in Phoenix. New York is also reportedly taking a hard look at Ramon Sessions. (Updated July 13 at 2:25 p.m. ET)
Lakers signing Caruso to two-way contract
The Los Angeles Lakers are signing Alex Caruso to a two-year, two-way contract, according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN. Caruso played four years at Texas A&M and spent last season with the Oklahoma City Blue -- the Thunder's development team. The two-way contract will give him an opportunity to develop in the G-League with the Lakers organization, where he has shined this summer playing in the summer league behind Lonzo Ball. Pelicans meeting with Rondo on Thursday
New Orleans Pelicans officials are meeting with Rajon Rondo Thursday in Louisville to discuss the possibility of a one-year deal, ESPN's Zach Lowe reports. Rondo spent last season with the Bulls where he averaged 7.8 points and 6.7 assists per game before being waived this offseason. Rondo has also garnered interest from the Lakers. Spurs agree to deal with EuroLeague guard
The Spurs have reached an agreement with EuroLeague guard Brandon Paul, according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Paul, who spent the 2016-17 season in Turkey, played for Illinois in college and played with the Cleveland Cavaliers' summer league team. (Updated July 13 at 12:52 p.m. ET)
Spurs renouncing guard Jonathan Simmons
The San Antonio Spurs have renounced their rights to guard Jonathon Simmons and are now working to complete a contract with him according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Simmons, 25, averaged 6.2 points and 2.1 rebounds per game last season for the Spurs and developed as a solid rotation player for the team down the stretch of the season and into the playoffs. Jazz agree to two-year, $6.5 million deal with Udoh
EuroLeague center Ekpe Udoh has agreed to a two-year, $6.5M deal with the Utah Jazz, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical. Udoh spent five seasons in the NBA from 2010 to 2015 with the likes of the Warriors, Bucks and Clippers, where he averaged 4.0 points and 3.2 rebounds per game in limited usage. Udoh was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2010 draft by the Golden State Warriors. (Updated July 13 at 9:13 a.m. ET)
Hawks bring back Ilyasova
According to Shams Charania of The Vertical, the Haws have agreed with forward Ersan Ilyasova on a one-year, $6 million deal. The 30-year-old averaged 10.4 points and 5.8 rebounds in 26 games for the Hawks last season after also spending time with the Thunder and Sixers. The 6-foot-10 3-point shooter has played for five teams over the last two seasons.
Jazz sign Jerebko
The Utah Jazz have agreed to a two-year, $8.2 million with free agent forward Jonas Jerebko, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Jerebko averaged 3.8 points and 3.5 rebounds for the Celtics last season, and will help make up for the absence of Trey Lyles, who the Jazz traded on draft night.
Several teams interested in Shabazz Muhammad
According to Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated, free agent Shabazz Muhammad is getting interest from the Hawks, Nets, Bucks and Knicks. Muhammad was renounced last week by Minnesota, where he averaged 9.9 points per game in 19.4 minutes as a reserve last season.
Pelicans want in on Carmelo deal
The Pelicans might be one of the teams involved in the Carmelo Anthony deal to Houston, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post. The Knicks have no desire to take on Ryan Anderson's contract, so the Pelicans (where Anderson spent the four seasons before he arrived in Houston) have emerged as a potential suitor. Berman also reports that the Anthony trade isn't likely to be completed until the weekend at the earliest, according to a source. (Updated July 12 at 7:45 p.m. ET)
Melo could be on his way to Houston soon
According to the New York Daily News, a trade that would send Carmelo Anthony from the Knicks to the Rockets is "at the two-yard line." The teams are reportedly looking for a fourth team to help facilitate the trade, which would pair Anthony with Chris Paul and James Harden to create a potential championship threat in the Western Conference. Lakers still looking at Rajon Rondo
Despite spending $18 million on Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, the Los Angeles Lakers are still considering adding Rajon Rondo as their backup point guard, according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne. The team met with Rondo on Tuesday, but is also reportedly also looking at Tyler Ennis, Ian Clark and Isaiah Canaan for that role. (Updated July 12 at 3:50 p.m. ET)
Jazz agree to deal with free agent Thabo Sefolosha
Free agent guard Thabo Sefolosha has agreed to a two-year, $10.5M deal with the Utah Jazz, The Vertical's Shams Charania reports. Sefolosha spent the last three seasons with the Atlanta Hawks where he averaged 6.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game. (Updated July 12 at 2:05 p.m. ET)
Rockets, Knicks exploring trade to send Melo to Houston
The Houston Rockets and New York Knicks are working on trade scenarios involving four-team deals that would potentially send Carmelo Anthony to the Rockets, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Although no agreement is imminent, chatter of a potential Anthony trade to Houston has picked up steam of late -- with ESPN's Ian Begley reporting this week that Anthony would be willing to waive his no-trade clause to join the Rockets team that now features Chris Paul and James Harden. Begley also reports that Anthony and the Knicks "feel good" about completing a deal that ships him out of New York. (Updated July 12 at 1:45 a.m. ET)
Cavs to sign former first-round pick
The Cleveland Cavaliers haven't been too busy this summer, mostly making minor deals such as adding Jose Calderon and Jeff Green. Now, they have made one more addition, as ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported that they have agreed to a three-year deal with Cedi Osman, their former first-round pick from the 2013 draft. Lakers reach 1-year, $18M deal with KCP
After being renounced by the Pistons following the Avery Bradley-Marcus Morris trade, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is making his way out West, as ESPN's Brian Windhorst reports that KCP has agreed to a one-year, $18M deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. (Updated July 12 at 10:06 a.m ET)
Hawks, Dewayne Dedmon reach deal
Dewayne Dedmon has reportedly reached a deal with, surprisingly, the Atlanta Hawks. Dedmon was expected to leave the Spurs, but Atlanta seems like a bit of an awkward fit for him. He's a great rim protector, but Atlanta's front court is a little full right now which means Dedmon will have to take away those minutes from someone else. If the Hawks can get him on the floor, however, then this could be a good fit for him. (Updated July 11 at 9:41 p.m ET)
Pistons looking to deal Jackson to Pelicans?
According to Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders, the Pistons and Pelicans have discussed a trade that would send Reggie Jackson to New Orleans in exchange for E'Twaun Moore and Alexis Ajinca. Moore is expected to be the starting shooting guard in New Orleans, while Jackson was inconsistent last year for the Pistons, averaging 14.5 points and 5.2 assists in 52 games. Lakers meet with Rondo, Caldwell-Pope
The Lakers had meetings with two free agent guards on Monday, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Rajon Rondo, according to reports. Caldwell-Pope was renounced by the Pistons after they acquired Avery Bradley from the Pistons, while Rondo was bought out by the Bulls at the end of June. The Lakers have reportedly expressed serious interest in Rondo. (Updated July 11 at 7:15 ET)
Pistons sign Tolliver to one-year deal
Anthony Tolliver has agreed to a one year, $3.3 million deal for its 14th roster spot, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical. The Pistons have been active in free agency this offseason, recently acquiring Celtics guard Avery Bradley and rescinding their qualifying offer to Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Tolliver has 11 years of NBA experience and should be a valuable pickup for a young Pistons team that shipped Marcus Morris to Boston in their trade to land Bradley. (Updated July 11 at 5:01 p.m. ET)
Nuggets waive veteran guard Mike Miller
The Denver Nuggets have waived veteran shooting guard Mike Miller, the team announced on Tuesday. Miller, 37, spent the last two seasons with the Nuggets where he was used sparingly, averaging 7.8 minutes and 1.4 points per game. (Updated July 11 at 4:33 p.m. ET)
Knicks re-sign Ron Baker to two-year, $8.9M deal
The New York Knicks have re-signed restricted free agent guard Ron Baker to a two-year, $8.9 million deal with a player option in year two, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Baker went undrafted out of Wichita State and outperformed expectations with the Knicks last season, averaging 4.1 points and 2.1 assists per game while playing 16.5 minutes per contest. Kerr wants JaVale McGee back
Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr told The Mercury News that he would love to have JaVale McGee back to fill the team's final roster spot. Kerr said that everyone in the organization wants the 7-foot center back, but that McGee is currently "exploring other options." (Updated July 11 at 1:40 p.m. ET)
Paul George says Lakers rumors are 'overstated'
In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Paul George said that the rumors about him joining the Lakers have been overstated. He said playing for the Lakers would be a dream come true, but that "it's all about winning," and could see himself re-signing with OKC if the team makes a deep playoff run in 2017-18. Pistons re-sign Reggie Bullock
According to Shams Charania of The Vertical, free agent Reggie Bullock has agreed to re-sign with the Pistons on a two-year, $5 million deal. Bullock has averaged 3.9 points and shot 40 percent on 3-pointers in 68 games with Detroit over the past two seasons. (Updated July 10 at 8:45 p.m. ET)
Spurs sign Joffrey Lauvergne
The Spurs will sign Joffrey Lauvergne according The Vertical. The 25-year-old big man out of France has shown the potential to be a solid rotation player, and a system like San Antonio will do well for him. Bucks interested in Ian Clark
The Milwaukee Bucks have expressed interest in free agent shooting guard Ian Clark, Woelfels Press Box reports. Clark spent spent the last two seasons with the Golden State Warriors as a key role player off the bench and is now an unrestricted free agent. Last season, Clark averaged 6.8 points in 14.8 minutes per game and shot 37.4 percent from the 3-point line. (Updated July 10 at 2:37 p.m. ET)
