Rajon Rondo returns from his suspension Wednesday night to face the Minnesota Timberwolves. While the Boston Celtics' point guard was away from the team, his team went 1-1 by trouncing the Trail Blazers at home and losing to the Bucks in Milwaukee. Rondo was suspended for shoving Kris Humphries after an extra push when he fouled Kevin Garnett.

The shove became a wrestling match that spilled behind the basket and a bit into the stands. Rondo was given a two-game suspension. He wasn't allowed to attend the games or travel with the team to Milwaukee. So what did he learn from all of this? What's the lesson that rose from the rubble of this scuffle?

Nothing. Via Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe:

"I wanted to be out there with my teammates but obviously a 2-game suspension, like I said I was glued in front of the TV," said Rondo, who told reporters he went to Mexico during the break. "Hopefully I don't feel too winded tomorrow. I think I've been off for about a week now. We'll see tomorrow." 

When asked if he learned any lessons during his third suspension in nine months, he said: "No." 

Rondo did say he missed being around his teammates. 

"It was difficult," he said, "I love being around the guys. I love coming into practice and being around them on the team plane, but I had to miss that for a couple of days but other than that everything is back to normal."

If it's worth it to Rondo to miss a paycheck for two games to show his teammates he has their backs and that he'll fight with and for them, then that's perfectly fine with me. I don't think it's something he should do often because it hurts his team to not have him playing every night. However, a sign of solidarity like this isn't the worst thing to happen.

I'm sure that's not something David Stern likes. He doesn't like it when the NBA players don't show some contrition for an incident like this or an incident of any kind that garners a suspension. Many thought the Gilbert Arenas suspension ended up being harsher than it might have been because he came out and flashed the finger guns in a pregame huddle for the Wizards.

While this isn't anything close to bringing guns into an NBA arena, that doesn't mean Stern won't like him saying he learned nothing from the penalty.

Regardless, it will be nice to have Rondo back on the court for the Celtics. There's only so much Leandro Barbosa we can all take.
