After Al Jefferson tore his plantar fascia in the playoffs vs. the Miami Heat, that series was over. The then-Bobcats's odds weren't good to begin with vs. Miami; that injury sealed the coffin. Jefferson limped his way through limited minutes, but that kind of injury is not only debilitating, it's extremely painful. He wasn't the same, and the Bobcats' promising season ended in disappointing fashion.
The good news is that the Hornets center is good as new, according to Steve Clifford in an inteview with the Charlotte Observer:
Q. Any concerns about Al Jefferson’s foot after the plantar fascia injury in the playoffs?
A. He’s here doing all the (voluntary) workouts. He’s had no pain, no restrictions.

That's big for the Hornets who need to get off to a good start. With their offseason additions of Lance Stephenson and Marvin Williams, along with Brian Roberts, they have a legit chance at making a run for home court in the Eastern Conference. Jefferson, though, is the star around which their solar system revolves. Getting him healthy is a big deal for all involved.
