It looks like Jason Terry will re-sign with the Houston Rockets in free agency. There's a place for the 37-year-old combo guard there given the loss of Pablo Prigioni and Nick Johnson in the Ty Lawson deal.

Terry had a much bigger role than anyone could have predicted last season. He appeared in 77 regular-season games for the Rockets, starting in 18 of them, and he started in all 17 of their postseason games. With Lawson's arrival and Patrick Beverley returning from injury, Terry's playing time will diminish, but he can still come off the bench and contribute. He made 39 percent of his 3-pointers last year.
When Houston acquired Terry last September along with a couple of second-round picks, it appeared to be straight salary dump. He had been ineffective in limited minutes for the Brooklyn Nets in 2013-14, and it wouldn't have been surprising if the Rockets had cut ties with him before the start of the season. He ended up being an important part of the rotation, and now he could be back in Houston for his 17th year. Funny how things work out.
