Aununoby puts the Knicks up eight late

OG Anunoby has been excellent tonight and just hit a huge 3-pointer from the corner to push the Knicks' lead up to eight with less than two minutes to play. He has five 3s and 28 points tonight, which would be a season-high in scoring if this game counted toward stats

Towns returns with Knicks clinging to lead

Karl-Anthony Towns left the game in the third quarter with what the broadcast called a calf issue. He is back on the floor here late in the fourth quarter, though, with the Knicks clinging to a five point lead. They're outscoring the Spurs 21-11 in the fourth quarter thanks in large part to some dominant offensive rebounding from Mitchell Robinson. Will the move to replace him with a potentially hobbled KAT pay off?

Third quarter: Spurs 94 -- Knicks 89

The Spurs briefly built a double-digit lead late in the third quarter and threatened to pull away, but the Knicks came up with a huge answer to keep it a five-point game entering the fourth.

Victor Wembanyama got off to a sluggish start in this game, but he caught fire late in the third and scored the Spurs' final 10 points of the frame. He's up to a team-high 16 points and six rebounds on 7 of 13 from the field now, and is one of five Spurs in double figures.

OG Anunoby has slowed down, but he still has a team-high 22 points for the Knicks, who have four double-figure scorers themselves. Karl-Anthony Towns did leave the game with an apparent leg injury in the third, which is concerning -- not just for the rest of this game, but moving forward.

WATCH: Wembanyama throws down the reverse alley-oop

It must be nice to be taller than everyone. Check out this alley-oop from the third quarter where Victor Wembanyama dove to the basket, stood under the rim and waited for Devin Vassell to throw him the ball. Wembanyama wasn't even looking at the rim when the pass was thrown, but it didn't matter

Halftime: Spurs 61 -- Knicks 59

Almost an identical end to the second quarter as the first, as two late points from De'Aaron Fox gave the Spurs a two-point lead in this narrow championship game. Neither team has been up by more than seven tonight, and there have been four ties and three lead changes.

The Spurs' attack has been extremely balanced. All nine players who have checked in have at least three points, and no one has more than 12. While they've been strong inside the arc (18 of 31 on 2s), their 3-point shooting has been poor. They're just 6 of 20 from downtown.

OG Anunoby has stepped up to lead the way for the Knicks with 20 points; his season-high is 26. Jalen Brunson, as expected, has also been a driving force on offense and enters the half with 15 points and four assists. The Knicks are likewise relying on their inside game (18 of 35 on 2s). They are 6 of 18 from 3-point range.

First quarter: Spurs 30 -- Knicks 28

Very little to separate these two teams after an entertaining first quarter. De'Aaron Fox, one of seven different Spurs players to score in the frame, hit two free throws in the waning seconds to put San Antonio in front. Victor Wembanyama, who came off the bench again, has looked rusty. He went 1 of 4 from the field in his first stint.

OG Anunoby (10 points) and Jalen Brunson (nine) have led the way for the Knicks thus far with 19 of the team's 28 points. Karl-Anthony Towns hasn't done much thus far, but he did throw one of the best passes of his career to get Anunoby a slam.

WATCH: Towns throws an incredible pass

Karl-Anthony Towns isn't known for his playmaking, but he just delivered one of the passes of the season thus far. After getting trapped along the sideline by Victor Wembanyama and Dylan Harper, Towns pivoted away from trouble and whipped the ball under Wembanyama's arm and across the lane to OG Anunoby for a slam.

Wembanyama coming off the bench again

Victor Wembanyama will come off the bench again tonight as he continues his return from a calf injury that kept him out for a month. Wembanyama's first game back was the semifinal win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, and he scored 22 points in 21 minutes off the bench -- the first reserve appearance of his NBA career.
