Pistons forward Luigi Datome has been unable to play in the preseason, as a lingering hamstring injury continues to hamper him. As a result, the team's plan to have him as Josh Smith's primary backup at small forward might be put on hold for the start of the season.
According to the team's official website, Datome was set to battle for playing time with Kyle Singler before the injury. At this point, it is not known what the sweet-shooting Italian's role will be, or whether he will be in the rotation by the start of the season.
