The Mets have acquired infielder Brandon Hicks from the Athletics in exchange for cash considerations, the club announced Monday.
Hicks, 27, appeared in 22 games for the Athletics in 2012, hitting .172/.243/.391 (73 OPS+) with three home runs. Hicks has struggled to make contact in both the major and minor leagues -- he has 42 strikeouts in 98 MLB plate appearances and struck out 115 times in 90 games for Triple-A Sacramento in 2012.
