The Nuggets, Clippers and Wizards have a three-team deal that sends Nick Young to Los Angeles, JaVale McGee and Ronny Turiaf to Denver and Nene and Brian Cook and a pick to Washington, according to multiple reports.
Nene, who re-signed with Denver in the offseason for five years and $67 million, is now reportedly headed out of town. He's been injured for a good portion of this season however, appearing in 28 games. He's averaging 13.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
Ken Berger of CBSSports.com tweeted that a source says the Nuggets experience some "buyer's remorse" on Nene, and his big contract. Which might've had something to do with moving him.
The Clippers wanted shooting guard help and found it in the form of Nick Young, a shoot first, pass fifth kind of guard. He'll help them quite a bit on the wing, and they didn't have to give up much to get him. He'll likely immediately move into the starting five.
Young is averaging 16.6 points and 1.2 assists per game in 40 appearances for the Wizards.
For the Wizards, it makes a lot of sense to move away from two of their bigger headaches and put a cornerstone on the block. Nene makes a lot, but they now have a foundation.
