He went a dismal 2-13 from the floor for five points, turned it over five times and didn't look all that engaged in the game. Normally a player that attacks off the dribble and owns the paint, Wade only took one shot at the rim in Game 3.
As a result, the Heat got smoked and everyone was left wondering, is something wrong with Wade?
The Heat all downplayed it saying that Wade has the same bumps and bruises anyone has this time of year. LeBron said he didn't know if anything was up with his buddy. But according to ESPN.com, Wade has an injury issue he's battling.
Wade is dealing with lingering injuries that forced him to miss several games late in the regular season, and the Miami Heat guard required treatment in recent days for knee and leg soreness, sources told ESPN.com on Thursday. It makes sense. Wade didn't attack, couldn't elevate and every jumper he attempted was painfully short. He wasn't Dwyane Wade in Game 3.
And keep in mind, he really wasn't himself in Game 2 either. He missed a layup late in the fourth that would've tied the game and had trouble getting going early on.
Combine Chris Bosh being out with a hampered Wade, and essentially what you have is a worse Cleveland Cavaliers that LeBron is playing with. Instead of Mo Williams, he has Mario Chalmers. Instead of Antawn Jamison, he has Udonis Haslem and instead of Anderson Varejao, Joel Anthony. Not going to be easy to overcome a hungry and fairly talented Pacers team like that.
If Wade's not 100 percent, which he's obviously not, the Heat have quite the hill to climb. They're down 2-1, still on the road and there isn't much time to recover from Thursday's beatdown. But they have to pick up the pieces and try and regroup.
The Heat canceled practice on Friday, presumably to heal and rest. Or to avoid nagging questions about whatever happened Thursday. Either way, Miami has two days off before it has to take the floor again, and those two days are going to be what decides this series.
Game 4 is Sunday, and it's do-or-die time for the Heat. If Wade is struggling, someone's got to step up. You'd think it would be the league's MVP, but we'll see.
