Hedo Turkoglu and the Los Angeles Clippers are close to finalizing a one-year, $1.4 million deal, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.
The 35-year-old free agent played 38 games for the Clippers last season after signing with them in January. He averaged 3.0 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. Turkoglu returning to the team has been rumored for a few days, as roster spots were opened up when Los Angeles waived Carlos Delfino and Miroslav Raduljica, who were acquired from Milwaukee in a trade that sent Jared Dudley to the Bucks.
At this stage of his career, Turkoglu won't play a big role. He can run a pick and roll, keep the ball moving and hit open 3s. He's a defensive liability, but the Clippers won't often ask him to guard athletic wing players.
Los Angeles will still only have 12 players under contract after making the Turkoglu deal official, so other players can still be acquired. Reports have linked the the Clippers to free agents Chris Douglas-Roberts, Ekpe Udoh and Ray Allen.
