On Monday, teams around the NBA held their annual Media Days ahead of the start of the preseason. While there plenty of intriguing storylines around the league, the biggest talking point this week regarded some players being unvaccinated and how it would affect their teams.
During Tuesday's installment of "Nothing Personal with David Samson," David Samson weighed in on the topic and provided his solution for unvaccinated players if he was NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.
"I've got a suggestion for you Adam. You need to make it very clear that you don't care if players get vaccinated or not. But if they're not vaccinated and can't play games, they don't get paid," Samson said. "If they're not vaccinated but are allowed to play, they have to wear masks, follow all the COVID-19 rules, and if they don't, they get suspended."
Two of the NBA's marquee players in Kyrie Irving and Bradley Beal were open about the fact that they are unvaccinated. In fact, Irving chose to participate in Media Day via Zoom rather than attend in person. It's worth noting that Irving won't be allowed to play in Brooklyn's home games if he remains unvaccinated due to New York City's vaccine requirements.
Like many others, Samson is interested to see if players like Irving will get vaccinated or simply sit out those home games.
