There's no replacing a player of John Wall's caliber when he goes down just days before training camp, but here's the Washington Wizards' best effort.
Ken Berger of CBSSports.com reports the Wizards have signed free-agent guard Jannero Pargo to a one-year, partially-guaranteed contract. Pargo joins reserve guards A.J. Price and Shelvin Mack on Washington's training camp roster.
Late last week, the Wizards announced Wall, their starting point guard and franchise player, was expected to miss eight weeks with a nontraumatic stress injury to his left knee.
Pargo, 33, is an eight-year veteran and career back-up. He spent last season with the Atlanta Hawks, where he averaged 5.6 points and 1.9 assists backing up starter Jeff Teague.
Pargo holds averages of 6.5 points, 2.0 assists and 1.5 rebounds per game during a career that has included stops with the Los Angeles Lakers, Toronto Raptors, Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Hornets and the Hawks.
