Mike Conley: Expected to return to Minnesota
Conley is expected to re-sign with the Timberwolves, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Conley was traded twice this week, to Chicago and then to Charlotte. However, he was eventually waived, freeing him up to choose his next destination. A return to Minnesota seemed inevitable, so this news does not come as a surprise. For now, it sounds like the two sides are still finalizing the details.

Mike Conley: Waived Thursday
The Hornets waived Conley on Thursday.
As expected, Conley will never end up making an appearance with the Hornets, after he was acquired Wednesday from Chicago in a deal that also sent Coby White to Charlotte. Once he clears waivers, Conley will be free to join a team of his choosing. The 38-year-old point guard could even head back to Minnesota, but wherever he winds up, Conley will be more of a veteran locker room presence than an on-court asset.

Hornets' Mike Conley: Re-routed to Charlotte
The Hornets acquired Conley and guard Coby White from the Bulls on Wednesday in exchange for guard Collin Sexton, forward Ousmane Dieng, a 2029 second-round pick and two 2031 second-round draft picks, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Conley has now been moved for the second time in as many days after Minnesota flipped him to Chicago on Tuesday. For the time being, Conley will likely slot in as the third- or fourth-string point guard in Charlotte, but the possibility exists that the Hornets could waive him in the aftermath of Thursday's trade deadline.

Bulls' Mike Conley: Unlikely to stay in Chicago
Conley (recently traded) is not expected to stay in Chicago after being acquired by the Bulls from the Timberwolves on Wednesday, Chris Haynes of NBA TV reports.
Conley was part of a three-team deal between the Timberwolves, Bulls and Pistons on Wednesday that saw Jaden Ivey join Conley in Chicago while Dario Saric and Kevin Huerter (back) were sent to Detroit. It appears Conley will not stick around with his new team, and Haynes relays that the veteran point guard and the Bulls "will work on a proper path to move forward." That could mean that Conley is sent to another team before Thursday's trade deadline or is cut by the Bulls, which would allow him to sign with a team in need of backcourt help. Prior to the trade, Conley was averaging 4.4 points, 2.9 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 1.0 threes over 18.5 minutes per game with the Timberwolves.

Bulls' Mike Conley: Flipped to Chicago
Minnesota agreed to trade Conley to Chicago in a three-team deal Tuesday, ESPN's Shams Charania reports. Jaden Ivey will be sent to Chicago, while Dario Saric and Kevin Huerter (back) will head to Detroit with Minnesota unloading a protected swap for this salary dump.
Father Time caught up to Conley in Minnesota, and the club will go in a different direction. The Bulls have a crowded backcourt, and it's hard to imagine Conley playing more than a minimal role as things currently stand. If the Bulls end up moving Coby White or other pieces, maybe that changes. Conley can be considered questionable to debut Thursday against Toronto.

Timberwolves' Mike Conley: Sitting out Thursday
Conley is out for Thursday's game against the Thunder with back spasms.
After playing 23 minutes in Wednesday's win in Dallas, Conley is getting the night off. The expectation is that the veteran floor general will return Saturday in Memphis. Bones Hyland should see enough playing time to warrant streaming consideration in deeper leagues Thursday.
