Greg Stiemsma: Let go by Trail Blazers
Stiemsma was waived by the Trail Blazers on Saturday, RealGM.com reports.
Stiemsma was battling Grant Jerrett and Tim Quarterman for the 15th and final roster spot to start the season, but the Trail Blazers opted to go with the younger player in Quarterman, who appears to have more potential as a prospect. Stiemsma is unlikely to field interest from other teams prior to the regular season, so he'll either head overseas or he could also start the year in the D-League with the Raptors' affiliate, the Raptors 905.

Trail Blazers' Greg Stiemsma: Inks camp deal with Portland
Stiemsma signed a training camp contract with the Trail Blazers on Monday, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.
Since going undrafted out of Wisconsin in 2008, Stiemsma has bounced around the NBA over parts of four seasons, logging 203 career appearances with the Celtics, Timberwolves, Pelicans and Raptors. He last appeared in the league in 2014-15 and didn't play anywhere professionally this past season after being cut by the Magic in training camp last fall. Look for a similar outcome to happen with the Trail Blazers, who have four players on guaranteed contracts (Mason Plumlee, Festus Ezeli, Ed Davis and Meyers Leonard) who are capable of playing center.

Veteran C Greg Stiemsma waived by Magic
Center Greg Stiemsma was waived by the Magic on Thursday, per Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel.
The move trims the Magic roster to 15 players, so it's unlikely the team makes another move before the start of the regular season next week. Stiemsma appeared in only two preseason games, going scoreless and picking up five fouls in a total of 17 minutes.
