The 30-year-old NBA veteran has played in the main league since the 2018-19 season, but Jones now finds himself with the Gold. The 2012 first-round pick exploded for Grand Rapids in just his second game for the Gold. While Jones still faces an uphill battle of making it back to the NBA, it is encouraging to see him perform well for Grand Rapids after recently joining the team.

The Rockets re-signed Jones to a second 10-day contract Monday, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Jones made just one appearance during his initial 10-day deal with Houston, playing 78 seconds in a 118-113 loss to the Hornets on Feb. 27. The Rockets are still lacking in frontcourt options with Kenneth Faried (hip) sidelined, so Jones will at least offer some added depth for the next week and a half, even though it doesn't appear he'll be in line for a regular rotation spot.

Jones will join the Rockets in California on Saturday after signing a 10-day contract with the team earlier in the week. The big man hasn't appeared in the NBA since 2016-2017, when he posted averages of 10.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists across 54 games with the Pelicans and Bucks. Jones will likely serve as front court depth during his stint with Houston.

The G League midseason All-NBA forward has been one of the biggest surprises of the season, averaging 23.5 points in 24 games with the Bayhawks through 2018-19. That figure is about four points higher than his 2017-18 total despite playing eight fewer games, which should highlight the type of role he's assumed with Erie.

Terrence Jones: Scores 41 in losing effort
Jones did his best to carry the Bayhawks with 41 points (16-24 FG, 4-4 FT, 5-9 3Pt), 10 rebounds, six assists and one blocked shot in the Bayhawks' 119-115 loss to the Herd on Sunday.
Jones managed to outscore his opposite number in Christian Wood by one point Sunday, but couldn't make enough of a contribution outside of the scorer's sheet to lift the Bayhawks to a win. For one, Jones' 10 rebounds, all defensive, paled in comparison to Wood's 20 boards. Jones' shooting was slightly more efficient, making two more shots than Wood on equal 24 shots attempted, but Jones' did most of his work from three while Wood wreaked havoc from the foul line. Throw in a technical foul with three minutes left in the first quarter for Jones, and it becomes clear to see that Jones somehow got shown up despite putting together a monster double-double in his own right.

This should be yet another reminder that when Jones is healthy, he's one of the better scorers in the G League, trailing just guard Tyler Dorsey in scoring Tuesday. It's the "when healthy" part that has become troublesome for the NBA starter, as Jones has dealt with ankle issues for much of the season.
