Otto Porter: Brings end to career
Porter announced his retirement from the NBA on Monday.
Waived earlier Monday by the Jazz after he was unable to work out a buyout agreement with the team prior to the March 1 deadline for postseason eligibility, Porter won't end up suiting up for Utah and will call an end to his career. The No. 3 overall pick by the Wizards in the 2013 NBA Draft, Porter's career spanned 11 seasons and included five stops, with the 30-year-old forward averaging 10.3 points and 4.9 rebounds in 527 regular-season games. Porter enjoyed his best seasons with the Wizards and was an underrated fantasy contributor at his peak due to his efficiency scoring and plus contributions in the three-pointers and steals categories, but injuries have slowed him since leaving Washington. In his statement Monday, Porter acknowledged that his body wasn't allowing him to play at the level he expected, which prompted his retirement. Before Utah acquired him from Toronto in February, Porter had appeared in just 15 games for the Raptors this season, averaging 11.6 minutes per contest.

Otto Porter: Waived by Jazz
The Jazz waived Porter on Monday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
The writing has been on the wall for a while, as Porter has been away from the team and never made an appearance for Utah after joining the Jazz at the trade deadline. Due to the timing of this transaction, Porter won't be eligible for the postseason if he's picked up by a contender. He was previously with Toronto this season, making 15 appearances with averages of 2.6 points and 1.9 rebounds in 11.6 minutes.

Jazz's Otto Porter: Iffy for Monday
Porter is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Warriors due to left foot soreness.
Porter previously missed time since knee sprain but was cleared for action Jan. 20. However, he hadn't played in any games for Toronto since being available before the Raptors dealt him to the Jazz on Thursday. Jazz's Otto Porter: Headed to Utah
Porter was traded from the Raptors to the Jazz along with Kira Lewis and a 2024 first-round pick Thursday in exchange for Kelly Olynyk and Ochai Agbaji, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Porter began the 2023-24 season on the fringes of Toronto's rotation and hasn't played any minutes since the start of the calendar year. While he missed several weeks in early January due to a knee injury, he was unable to generate a role for the team upon his return, even after the Raptors traded Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby. While the Jazz traded several solid pieces as part of Thursday's trade, it seems unlikely that Porter will garner considerable playing time in Utah.

Raptors' Otto Porter: Upgraded to questionable
Porter (knee) has been upgraded to questionable ahead of Saturday's game against the Knicks.
Porter was listed as doubtful Friday, so he seems to be trending in the right direction, although it wouldn't be shocking if Saturday's matchup against New York comes too soon for his return. Even when he does become available, he's expected to play a secondary role off the bench, so he shouldn't be targeted in most fantasy formats once he's back to full health.
