Jamel Artis: Leads Agua Caliente scoring in loss
Artis scored 26 points (11-20 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 4-7 FT) and picked up three assists, three steals and two rebounds in Agua Caliente's 131-120 loss to Lakeland on Wednesday.
Artis was a consistent scorer, at the very least, putting in a couple of buckets in every quarter, but his shot selection didn't do him any favors. Of his six attempted shots in the first quarter, he missed two from beyond the arc, but still managed to put together seven points. Artis didn't necessarily dominate the boards, with only two offensive rebounds on the night, but his shooting touch inside the arc is not to be underestimated. Artis has averaging 16.0 points per game this season, down from 19.5 last year.

Artis was waived by the Clippers on Saturday, Andrew Greif of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Artis was waived one day after signing with the team. There's a chance he ends up with the organization's G-League affiliate, the Agua Caliente Clippers.

Artis spent the 2017-18 campaign on a two-way contract with the Magic, where he played in 15 games and averaged 5.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists across 18.6 minutes. He'll now be given a shot with the Clippers ahead of the upcoming season, though the fact that it's only partially guaranteed is an indicator that Artis will still have an uphill battle to make the final roster. Even if Artis does somehow earn a roster spot, he'd merely be emergency depth and isn't going to be a fantasy contributor.

Jamel Artis: Let go by Sacramento
The Kings waived Artis on Sunday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
After signing only a partially guaranteed deal with the Kings over the summer, Artis was never viewed as a likely candidate to crack the season-opening roster. The wing appeared in two of the Kings' three preseason contests, logging nine points (3-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-3 FT), five rebounds and two assists across 22 minutes. If Artis fails to get picked up by another team before the regular season begins, he could stick in the Sacramento organization with their G League affiliate, the Stockton Kings.

Kings' Jamel Artis: Agrees to deal with Sacramento
Artis signed a two-year, partially guaranteed contract with the Kings on Tuesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
After going undrafted last June, Artis earned a two-way contract from Orlando, appearing in 15 games at the NBA level in 2017-18. In those contests, he averaged 5.1 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 18.6 minutes per game. However, after failing to earn a qualifying offer from Orlando this summer, Artis will now vie for a spot on the Sacramento roster in training camp. The lack of guaranteed money attached to his deal likely means that the Kings can cut Artis without much repercussions if he fails to impress in camp.

Cavaliers' Jamel Artis: Drops 17 in OT loss
Artis scored 17 points (6-11 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 5-8 FT) while adding six rebounds, three assists and a steal in 38 minutes during Monday's 112-109 double-overtime loss to the Lakers in the summer league semi-final.
Getting the start at small forward, Artis posted another solid performance to close out his Vegas campaign. The second-year wing will look to carry his strong play into training camp, whether it's with the Cavs or another organization, but he's still a long shot to earn meaningful NBA minutes in 2018-19.

Artis offered 13 points (5-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), nine rebounds and one assist across 31 minutes during the Cavaliers' 92-87 win over the Rockets in a Las Vegas Summer League contest Saturday.
Artis has only seen action in three summer league games thus far, but he's made good use of the opportunity. Factoring in Saturday's production, he's averaged 11.3 points (on 59.0 percent shooting), 6.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists across 30.0 minutes. Artis played most of the year in the G League during his rookie season. The undrafted guard out of Pittsburgh dropped a career-high 18 points against Dallas back on April 4. Artis should be able to sign a two-way contract this off season, given his production in both the G League and the NBA.

Artis picked up the spot start Friday against the Hornets with both Aaron Gordon (calf) and Nikola Vucevic (back) sitting out, finishing with 12 points, six rebounds, one assist and one block across 33 minutes. It was a solid showing overall from the undrafted rookie, though both the aforementioned players have since been cleared to play and will reclaim staring roles Sunday. As a result, Artis is set to resume his typical spot on the bench, though it wouldn't be overly surprising if he still saw regular run in the rotation considering the Magic are out of the playoff race and likely want to get their young players more minutes.

After he hadn't done much in the way of scoring all season, Artis scored at least 16 points for the second straight game. He benefited as multiple players on the team were either rested or out with injuries. Artis would be tough to trust in any remaining games, but if the team continues to rest a chunk of players, he could have a couple more decent games to close out the season.

Orlando head coach Frank Vogel recently indicated that he planned to allocate more minutes to younger players on the roster over the final handful of games with the organization in evaluation mode, so Artis could be in store for some run off the bench with the NBA team as the season winds down. The rookie out of Pittsburgh has been limited to just five appearances with Orlando this season, averaging 1.8 points and 1.4 rebounds across 11.0 minutes. Should he regularly crack Vogel's rotation down the stretch, Artis would likely be taking away playing time from players like Shelvin Mack, D.J. Augustin and/or Arron Afflalo.
