Cameron Bairstow: Heading to Australia on one-year contract
Bairstow signed a one-year contract Monday with Brisbane of Australia's National Basketball League, NBL.com reports.
Bairstow, who is suiting up for the Australian national team in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, spent two uneventful seasons in the NBA with the Bulls after being selected in the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft. He appeared in just 36 total games with the Bulls while averaging 4.6 minutes per contest, as the team's ample frontcourt depth along with recurring back issues prevented him from landing a rotation role. The Bulls subsequently dealt him to the Pistons in June, but he was waived less than a month later when the Pistons needed to create roster room. Bairstow's contract with Brisbane includes an option for a second season, so barring a resurgence in interest from NBA teams, he could remain in Australia for multiple years.

Cameron Bairstow: Gets waived Sunday
Bairstow was waived Sunday by the Pistons, Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Needing to clear cap space for Boban Marjanovic, who officially signed a three-year, $21 million contract Sunday, the Pistons facilitated the deal by waiving Bairstow and Joel Anthony and renouncing their rights to free agent Steve Blake. After averaging just 1.2 points and 1.0 rebound in 36 games over his first two seasons in the league, Bairstow didn't project to see much action with the Pistons had he remained on the roster.

Bulls' Cameron Bairstow: Won't be available in finale
Bairstow won't play in Wednesday's season finale against the 76ers, K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Bairstow isn't among the eight players listed as available for the season finale, and given that he's not a candidate to receive rest due to the dearth of playing time he's received lately, it's fair to assume that he's suffered a setback with his ailing back. The injury has limited him to just 18 appearances on the season, and with only 36 appearances under his belt for his first two seasons in the league, Bairstow may not be able to stick in the NBA much longer.

Bulls' Cameron Bairstow: Does not play Saturday
Bairstow was a DNP-coach's decision Saturday against the Pistons.
Bairstow has not played in over a month due to a back injury, but entered Saturday's game as probable. It appears he is healthy enough to play, but he still may not see many minutes even with Taj Gibson (ribs) out.

Bulls' Cameron Bairstow: Probable for Saturday
Bairstow (back) has been ruled probable for Saturday't tilt with the Pistons, Nick Friedell of ESPNChicago.com reports.
Bairstow has missed 14 consecutive games due to back soreness but could return to the court Saturday night. A decision will likely be made after Saturday morning's shootaround but could be delayed until after pregame warmups. Since he has missed a month of action he is likely to see his minutes restricted if he is cleared to play come Saturday night.

Bairstow (back) isn't traveling with the Bulls and will miss Thursday's game against the Rockets, Bulls radio play-by-play announcer Chuck Swirsky reports.
We're considering Bairstow as out indefinitely for now, as he's been out since March 2 with back soreness and isn't practicing with the team. He hasn't been a regular fixture in the rotation this season, averaging just 5.7 minutes over 18 appearances.

Bulls' Cameron Bairstow: Ruled out Monday
Bairstow (back) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Hawks, Nick Friedell of ESPN.com reports.
Back soreness continues to plague Bairstow, who will miss his 13th straight contest. Bairstow has rarely been a member of the Bulls' rotation this season, so his ongoing absence shouldn't affect the way coach Fred Hoiberg distributes the minutes among the frontcourt.

That extends Bairstow's string of absences to 12 games, as his sore back continues to bother him. Bairstow is only averaging 5.7 minutes over his 18 appearances on the season, so don't expect him to reclaim a spot in the rotation once he returns from injury.

Bulls' Cameron Bairstow: Ruled out Wednesday
Bairstow (back) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Knicks, K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Bairstow last appeared in a game on March 2 before he began experiencing a bout with lower-back soreness. The second-year big man had been an occasional member of the rotation around the All-Star break, but now that the Bulls are relatively healthy in the frontcourt, Bairstow will only see garbage-time minutes once he returns.

Bulls' Cameron Bairstow: Still bothered by lower-back stiffness
Bairstow remains sidelined with lower-back soreness, K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports.
With Joakim Noah (shoulder) out for the season and Pau Gasol (knee) and Taj Gibson (hamstring) seemingly at risk of missing a few more games, Bairstow likely would be in line for some substantial court time Thursday against the Nets. Alas, that's not the case, and it looks like Bairstow could be headed for an extended absence of his own. The back problems have already prevented him from playing in the Bulls' last six games.

Even when healthy, Bairstow is not part of the Bulls' regular rotation, as he's averaging just 1.9 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.3 assists over just six minutes per game. His next opportunity to return will be Monday versus the Raptors.

Bairstow (back) will not play Thursday against the Spurs, Paul Garcia of Project Spurs reports.
Bairstow has missed the last two games with a back injury, and the team has not issued much in the way of an update. It doesn't sound like he made the trip to San Antonio, but the Bulls return home to host the Heat on Friday, so it's possible Bairstow could be available for that matchup.
