Cleanthony Early: Stripped of contract for disciplinary reasons
Early was stripped of his recently-signed contract with Greek club AEK due to disciplinary reasons Saturday, freelance reporter David Pick reports.
Early, now a free agent, will have to look elsewhere for work. It didn't appear he had any available NBA suitors for the upcoming season, so it seems probable that he'll continue to be overseas or try his luck in the G-League.

Cleanthony Early: Headed to Greece
Early, after considering several NBA training camp offers, has opted to sign a contract with the Greek club AEK, Ian Begley of ESPN.com reports.
The last time Early played in the NBA was during the 2015-16 season, when he posted 1.8 points and 1.5 rebounds across 9.1 minutes per game over 17 appearances. The former 34th overall pick spent last season in the D-League, averaging 10.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.0 block across 17.7 minutes over 14 games. Going overseas may afford him more consistent playing time, which could be good for his development. At just 26-years-old, the 6-foot-8 forward certainly has time to attempt an NBA comeback if he so chooses.

Cleanthony Early: Waived by Knicks
Early (hamstring) was waived by the Knicks on Friday.
Early is still rehabbing a hamstring injury, and while he agreed to re-sign with the Knicks earlier this month, it was with the plan to ultimately be waived and join the team's D-League affiliate in Westchester. That appears to still be the plan, as Early will slowly be able to make his way back to the floor in the D-League.

Knicks' Cleanthony Early: Re-signs with Knicks
Early will re-sign with the Knicks, Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reports.
Early was with the Knicks during the Orlando Summer League in July, but didn't end up seeing the court, as he was dealing with a hamstring injury. He's still experiencing some lingering issues with his hamstring and is expected to start the season in the D-League for further rehabilitation. With that said, once healthy, Early will join the Knicks regular roster and should provide a depth option at small forward.

Cleanthony Early: Still troubled by hamstring injury
Early (hamstring) hasn't suited up for the Knicks' entry in the Orlando Summer League, Marc Berman of the New York Post reports.
The injury, which Early suffered in a pre-Summer League practice, is especially costly considering the former second-round pick was playing for a contract after the Knicks chose not to extend him a qualifying offer last week. Unless he heals up quickly, Early may struggle to earn a guaranteed contract from any team before training camps open up in the fall.

Cleanthony Early: Becomes unrestricted free agent
Early wasn't extended a qualifying offer by the Knicks prior to Thursday's deadline, making him an unrestricted free agent, Eric Pincus of Basketball Insiders reports.
It was also revealed earlier in the day that Early was nursing a strained hamstring that prevented him from practicing with the Knicks' summer league team, according to Steve Popper of The Record, but that likely didn't factor into the organization's decision not to extend a qualifying offer. Instead, it was Early's lack of impact across 56 games in his two seasons with the Knicks that had the most influence, as the forward averaged just 4.3 points (on 34.6% shooting from the field) and 2.2 rebounds over 14.3 minutes in those contests. Once he shakes of the hamstring ailment, Early will still suit up for the Knicks in the summer league, and there's a good possibility he'll end up re-signing with the club in free agency.

Knicks' Cleanthony Early: Starts, but scores only seven points in Tuesday's finale
Early played 30 minutes and finished with seven points (3-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt) and three rebounds in Tuesday's 102-90 loss to the Pacers.
In the Knicks' season finale, Early entered the starting lineup in place of a resting Carmelo Anthony, but didn't see much usage while he was on the floor. He ranked last among the Knicks' starters in shot attempts on the evening, and looks like he'll continue to hang around the league as little more than a role player. Through his first two NBA seasons, Early has made just 56 appearances and is averaging 4.3 points (on 34.6% shooting), 2.2 rebounds, and 0.8 assists across 14.3 minutes.

Knicks' Cleanthony Early: Scores seven points in 23 minutes Friday
Early had seven points (3-10 FG, 1-2 3Pt), six rebounds, and three assists in 23 minutes during the Knicks' 105-91 win versus the Nets on Friday.
Early committed three turnovers, but this was his first appearance in an NBA game since Dec. 12. Given that the Knicks have been eliminated from playoff contention though, Early could be a part of the regular rotation over the team's final five games.

Knicks' Cleanthony Early: Assigned to D-League
Early was assigned to the D-League's Westchester Knicks on Monday.
Early logged one minute in Sunday's game against the Knicks, marking his first game action since taking a gunshot wound to the leg in December. The Knicks recalled him in light of all their injuries at forward, but with Carmelo Anthony (head) likely to be back for the team's Wednesday's tilt with the Bulls, Early will head back to the D-League to get more reps. He's appeared in three games with Westchester this season, averaging 14 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in just over 29 minutes. He'll continue to focus on recovery and development over the final month of the season with the Knicks well out of contention.

Knicks' Cleanthony Early: Recalled from D-League for Sunday
Early (knee) has been recalled from the D-League's Westchester Knicks, and placed on the active roster for Sunday's game against the Kings.
Early was recalled in light of the injuries affecting the Knicks, including Lance Thomas (knee) and Kevin Seraphin (foot), who are both unavailable Sunday, and Carmelo Anthony (head), who is a game-time decision. Early is buried at the bottom at the depth chart, and it's unclear if he will get any action, but it's encouraging to see him getting back into things.
