Russ Smith: Scores 10 off bench
Smith logged 10 points (2-9 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, two assists and a steal in 17 minutes during Thursday's G League loss to Maine.
Smith served in a depth role once again Thursday but still managed to score in double figures despite shooting just 22.2 percent from the floor. The 30-year-old has cooled off since averaging 33.5 points per game across his first two appearances of the regular season, but he's still posted 10-plus points in each of the first six contests.

Russ Smith: Drops 24 points in loss
Smith compiled 24 points (6-19 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 5-5 FT), two rebounds, an assist and a steal in 40 minutes during Saturday's G League loss to Raptors 905.
Smith came off the bench in Thursday's regular-season opener, but he drew the start in Saturday's matchup. Although he wasn't particularly efficient against Raptors 905, he had plenty of shot volume and finished second on the team in scoring. Regardless of his starting status, it appears as though the 30-year-old will have a prominent role for the Mad Ants early in the regular season.

Russ Smith: Dominant off bench
Smith tallied 43 points (15-30 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds and two steals in 33 minutes during Thursday's G League loss to Raptors 905.
Smith had spent the last several seasons overseas, but he joined the Mad Ants to begin the G League regular season Thursday. Although he came off the bench during his first appearance with the club, he was incredibly productive and should continue to see plenty of playing time if he continues to perform at a high level.

Russ Smith: Signs deal to remain in China
Smith agreed to a one-year deal with the Fujian Sturgeons of the Chinese Basketball Association, Jeff Greer of the Courier-Journal reports.
Smith averaged an incredible 61.2 points per game last season in China's second-tier league, but will now be jumping up to the more talented Chinese Basketball Association. Depending on how he fares with this new team, the 26-year-old could still potentially make an NBA comeback in future seasons.

Russ Smith: Will sign with Galatasaray
Smith signed with the Turkish club Galatasaray on Tuesday, Sportando reports.
After being selected 47th overall in the 2014 NBA Draft, Smith has played 27 games in the NBA and 47 in the D-League, but has never been able to find consistent minutes at the highest level. Despite averaging 27.8 points, 7.7 assists and 4.9 rebounds per game in the D-League last year, he'll look for more minutes and higher pay overseas next season.

Grizzlies' Russ Smith: Sent back to the D-League
Smith has been assigned to the Iowa Energy of the NBA D-League on Thursday, Ronald Tillery of The Commercial Appeal reports.
Smith has played extremely sparing minutes for the Grizzlies behind Mario Chalmers and Mike Conley. For all intents and purposes, Smith is usually not an option in most fantasy leagues.

Grizzlies' Russ Smith: Logs nine minutes in Tuesday's loss
Smith scored four points (1-1 FG, 2-2 FT) to go along with three rebounds, and three assists in nine minutes during the Grizzlies' 125-88 loss versus the Thunder on Tuesday.
Smith has seen just 16 total minutes while appearing in only five of the 13 games since Mario Chalmers' arrival in mid-November. It's possible Smith could earn some time in Wednesday's match-up with the Pistons given the Grizzlies' long list of injuries, but on most nights Smith is an unreliable option in fantasy.

Grizzlies' Russ Smith: Plays season-high 13 minutes on Wednesday
Smith scored five points (1-2 FG, 3-4 FT) to go along with one rebound and one steal in 13 minutes during the Grizzlies' 100-84 loss versus the Warriors on Wednesday.
The newly acquired Mario Chalmers was not yet ready to make his debut on Wednesday, so Smith stepped up to the plate as Mike Conley's primary backup. Smith has averaged six minutes per game while appearing in only five of the team's nine contests this season, and with Chalmers now ahead of him on the Grizzlies' depth chart instead of Beno Udrih, Smith's minutes may be even more limited going forward.

Grizzlies guard Russ Smith returns from ankle injury Monday
Grizzlies guard Russ Smith (ankle) returned to game action Monday, collecting a point (1-2 FT), an assist, and two rebounds over 11 minutes in Monday's 91-81 victory over the Cavs.
While the stat line was certainly not noteworthy, it was encouraging to see Smith return to the court after missing only one game due to his ankle injury. The sophomore point guard is vying to build on an impressive summer league stint and a strong exhibition opener Oct. 6 against the Rockets that saw him amass 12 points in 21 minutes of action. Smith will presumably battle veteran Beno Udrih the remainder of the preseason for the backup point guard job behind starter Mike Conley.
