Magic's Damjan Rudez: Re-signs with Magic
Rudez re-signed with the Magic on Thursday to a non-guaranteed contract, Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel reports.
In his first season with Orlando, Rudez struggled to see the court, playing in just 45 games overall. That translated to averages of just 1.8 points across 7.0 minutes per contest, which kept him far off the fantasy radar. While Rudez has the ability to play both forward positions, the Magic brought in Jonathan Isaac and Marreese Speights this offseason, which throws even more roadblocks in Rudez's way for potential playing time. His contract is reportedly not guaranteed, meaning he'll have to fight for a spot on the regular-season roster throughout training camp.

Magic's Damjan Rudez: Plays four minutes Monday
Rudez provided zero points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and one assist in four minutes in Monday's 113-105 loss to the Knicks.
Rudez has only appeared in six games since the beginning of February, logging double-digit minutes on just one occasion. It looks like his playing opportunities will remain limited to garbage time over the final month of the season.

Magic's Damjan Rudez: Logs garbage time in Wednesday's loss
Rudez played four minutes in Wednesday's 107-79 loss to the Spurs, recording one foul and no other statistics.
Rudez saw some run in garbage time at the end of the blowout, and those are typically the only scenarios in which coach Frank Vogel is willing to call the big man's number off the bench. The 30-year-old has appeared in only four of eight games in February, seeing no more than 12 minutes in any contest.

Following a 100% shooting performance in 24 minutes against the Celtics that included going 4-4 from behind the arc, Rudez saw his role and production return to season norms. The 30-year-old third-year player is averaging 2.2 points, 0.7 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 0.3 steals in 7.6 minutes this season.

Somewhere along the way, it appears he picked up the calf injury, but given the limited run he typically receives, his potential absence Sunday wouldn't have much of an impact on the rest of the roster. Rudez is safely waiver-wire fodder in just about every league.

Rudez had a brief run as the main backup to power forward Serge Ibaka, appearing in a stretch of nine consecutive games earlier this month. Magic's Damjan Rudez: Has training camp deal, not one-year contract
Updating a previous report, Rudez hasn't signed a one-year contract with the Magic, but will instead join the team on a training camp invite, Brian K. Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel reports.
It doesn't appear Rudez will count toward the Magic's 15-man roster, but he could very well earn his way on the team with a quality performance in training camp. Rudez was lost in the shuffle in a crowded Timberwolves frontcourt last season, finishing with averages of 2.3 points and 0.6 rebounds in 8.4 minutes per game over 33 appearances. His ability to stretch the floor could help the Magic, who ranked 23rd in the NBA in three-point buckets per game a season ago.

Magic's Damjan Rudez: Agrees to one-year deal with Orlando
Rudez agreed Thursday with the Magic on a one-year contract, Nikos Varlas of EuroHoops.net reports.
The full terms of the contract are expected to be announced in the coming days, but the Magic plan on bringing aboard Rudez to add some shooting to the bench. With the offseason additions of Bismack Biyombo and Serge Ibaka to accompany Aaron Gordon in the frontcourt, the Magic have enough length and defensive versatility to cause opponents fits, so Rudez could potentially provide a different look as a 6-foot-9 forward who can stretch the floor. Despite his reputation as a gifted shooter, Rudez didn't exactly live up to that billing with the Timberwolves last season, averaging just 2.3 points across 8.4 minutes per game while hitting only 34 percent of his three-point tries. He might have difficulty cracking the Magic's rotation if he fails to show much improvement as a shooter during training camp.

Timberwolves' Damjan Rudez: Team option declined by Timberwolves
Rudez will become an unrestricted free agent, as the Timberwolves declined his $1.2 million team option for the 2016-17 season, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.
Rudez saw action in just 33 games for the Timberwolves this past season, posting averages of 2.3 points and 0.6 rebounds over eight minutes per game. At 6-foot-9, Rudez can still stretch the floor and hit from deep, as he's a career 39 percent shooter from beyond the arc, but at age 30, it's tough to see him improve drastically moving forward. He'll look to catch on with a team during training camp in an attempt to make a final roster.

Rudez recorded eight points (3-4 FG, 2-3 3Pt) in six minutes during the Timberwolves' 99-79 loss to the Clippers on Wednesday.
Rudez had not seen the floor in nine straight games prior to Wednesday. However, the blowout nature of the game allowed him to get some time. Rudez is buried on the depth chart, and it's tough to predict whether he will even touch the court on most nights.
