Trail Blazers' Isaiah Whitehead: Appearing in summer league with Portland
Whitehead agreed Sunday to join the Trail Blazers for summer league, Michael Scotto of The Athletic reports.
Whitehead has not appeared in an NBA game since 2017-18 and spent majority of last season with the G League's Grand Rapids Drive. He will try to make enough of an impression in the summer league to earn an invitation to an NBA training camp later in the offseason.

Isaiah Whitehead: Slots in at small forward
Whitehead registered 25 points (8-15 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 6-6 FT), four assists, two steals and one rebound in the 135-112 win Friday over Stockton.
The decision to move both White and Kalin Lucas down to the G League has created an enviable problem for Grand Rapids related to a glut of talented guards, but the team was able to maneuver around the issue Friday, bumping Whitehead to the small forward position. The end result saw the 6-foot-3 scorer tally his second-highest point total of the season.

Isaiah Whitehead: Nearly leads team in scoring
Whitehead finished Wednesday's win over Santa Cruz with 24 points (8-19 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 7-10 FT), six rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block.
The two-way player has played sparingly with Grand Rapids, participating in 15 games this season. In those contests, he's averaging 17.0 points, 4.9 assists and 4.1 rebounds, so his totals Wednesday should come as no surprise given he received a healthy workload.

Isaiah Whitehead: Scores 22 points despite loss
Whitehead scored 22 points (8-24 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT) to go along with three rebounds, three assists and two steals in the loss Tuesday to the Blue Coats.
The guard started at small forward and wound up leading his team in scoring, but that was in large part thanks to his sheer amount of attempts, as he only connected on 33 percent of his shots. The Drive have struggled to field a full roster for much of the season, so expect Grand Rapids to rely heavily on their new forward despite his two-way status.

Pistons' Isaiah Whitehead: To sign two-way deal with Pistons
Whitehead agreed to a two-way contract with the Pistons on Tuesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
After being drafted by the Nets in 2016, Whiteside found very little NBA success and ended up signing on with the Russian club Lokomotiv Kuban in August on 2018. Now, after parting ways with the club just over a week ago, Whitehead is going to get another chance at the NBA in Detroit. The Pistons, however, are very deep in the backcourt, so Whitehead will likely be spending majority of 2019 with the Grand Rapids Drive of the G League.

Isaiah Whitehead: Parts ways with Russian club
Whitehead and Russian club Lokomotiv Kuban mutually agreed to part ways Monday.
After logging 89 appearances with the Nets over the past two seasons, Whitehead moved overseas in August after failing to attract much interest from NBA teams. During his tenure with Lokomotiv Kuban, Whitehead averaged 11.6 points and 3.3 assists per game in VTB United League play. It's unclear if his departure from the club will result in him returning to North America to find work or if he'll continue to play in the foreign ranks.

Isaiah Whitehead: Inks deal overseas
Whitehead has agreed to join Russian club Lokomotiv Kuban, Emiliano Carchia of Sportnado reports.
After playing 1,600 minutes for the Nets during his 2016-17 rookie campaign, he spent most of last season in the G-League, where he was able to post 22.3 points per game. Despite the quality play, he wasn't able to land a significant contract at the NBA level for 2018-19, opting to go overseas.

Isaiah Whitehead: Officially waived by Denver
Whitehead (wrist) was waived by the Nuggets on Tuesday.
Whitehead was traded to the Nuggets last week as part of a salary dump from Denver, as Brooklyn took on the contracts of both Kenneth Faried and Darrell Arthur. Whitehead is yet to make much of an impact at the professional level, but as soon as he clears waivers, he'll be free to sign on with any team before the start of training camp.

Nuggets' Isaiah Whitehead: Dealt to Denver, will be waived
Whitehead (wrist) was traded to the Nuggets on Thursday in exchange for Kenneth Faried, Darrell Arthur, a protected 2019 first-round pick and a future second-round pick, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN Denver intends to waive Whitehead, per Wojnarowski.
Whitehead suited up in only 16 games for the Nets in his second NBA season, spending much of his time on the G League or on the sideline while recovering from injury. He now finds himself on one end of a massive salary dump, as the Nuggets will save $21 million in salary by dealing away Faried and Arthur. Whitehead is still recovering from the wrist surgery he underwent in April and will look to find his way onto an NBA roster after clearing waivers.

Nets' Isaiah Whitehead: Guarantee date pushed back
The Nets pushed the deadline to guarantee Whitehead's (wrist) $1.54 million contract for the 2018-19 season back to July 31, Michael Scotto of The Athletic New York reports.
Whitehead is on the mend for April wrist surgery and won't be available for the summer league, so the Nets want to wait until he gets healthier before determining whether he's worth retaining heading into the upcoming campaign. The 23-year-old saw his numbers drop across the board in his second season, finishing 2017-18 with averages of 6.3 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 11.3 minutes per game over just 16 appearances.

Whitehead (wrist) will undergo surgery on his wrist to repair a ligament injury, Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports reports.
Whitehead has been dealing with what the team had deemed sprained right wrist of a late, but it appears the issue is a bit more serious. The 23-year-old, who spent much of the year in the G League, will undergo surgery this week, which will keep him out for the Nets' final few games, with his recovery likely to last into the offseason.

Whitehead hasn't appeared in a game for Brooklyn since Feb. 22, as he's been spending time in the G-League with the Long Island Nets. That said, with the G-League season over, Whitehead will be at the NBA level for the remainder of the regular season. Even so, his availability, or lack thereof, probably won't affect the Nets' rotation too much, as he's played just 180 minutes this season.

Nets' Isaiah Whitehead: Out Wednesday with sprained wrist
Whitehead has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Magic with a sprained right wrist, Alex Labidou of the Nets' official site reports.
Whitehead hasn't appeared in a game for Brooklyn since Feb. 22, so it's likely that the injury stems from his time with the G League's Long Island Nets, who wrapped up their season Saturday. The second-year point guard was one of Long Island's top players this season, averaging 22.3 points (on 44.9 percent shooting from the field), 3.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.1 treys and 1.1 steals in 28.7 minutes per game over 30 appearances (24 starts). Though Whitehead will remain with the NBA team the rest of the season, it's unlikely that he'll see regular run in head coach Kenny Atkinson's rotation.
