Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Drops out of rotation
Poole (coach's decision) went unused off the bench Sunday in the Pelicans' 137-117 loss to the Clippers.
After being left out of the rotation for the Pelicans' final nine games before the All-Star break, Poole had resurfaced on New Orleans' second unit to begin the second half. He averaged 10.4 points, 3.6 assists and 3.0 assists over his last five appearances, but Poole had seen his playing time trend down over the Pelicans' previous two matchups, when he logged a combined 25 minutes. Though New Orleans was missing Zion Williamson (ankle) on Sunday, the returns of Trey Murphy (shoulder) and Dejounte Murray (reconditioning) were enough to bump Poole back out of the rotation. The 26-year-old guard's outlook for playing time will only worsen once Williamson is cleared to return to action.

Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Pops for 23 points in win
Poole contributed 23 points (8-15 FG, 5-11 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, five assists and one steal across 24 minutes during Saturday's 126-111 win over the 76ers.
Poole remained in the rotation Saturday, scoring 23 points in the process, the most he has scored since Dec 31. After being out of the rotation for nine straight games, he has now logged at least 24 minutes in two consecutive contests. It's hard to get an exact read on what is happening with the rotation, but assuming he continues to play a meaningful role, he could be worth a speculative pickup, specifically for those needing points and threes.

Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Resurfaces in rotation
Poole posted three points (1-6 FG, 1-4 3Pt), four rebounds and three assists across 25 minutes Friday in the Pelicans' 139-118 loss to the Bucks.
After going unused in each of the Pelicans' last nine games, Poole was dusted off and inserted into the rotation as New Orleans looked to add some more offensive firepower to the mix while Trey Murphy (shoulder) was sidelined. Despite seeing a healthy minutes total off the bench, Poole failed to deliver much of a spark. The Pelicans could get Murphy back for the second leg of their back-to-back set Saturday versus the 76ers, and Dejounte Murray (Achilles) is also drawing closer to his season debut, so Poole could find himself back outside of the rotation in short order.

Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Left out of rotation Sunday
Poole (coach's decision) didn't appear off the bench Sunday in the Pelicans' 104-95 win over the Spurs.
After playing fewer than 20 minutes in three of his last five appearances, Poole saw his spot in the New Orleans rotation disappear entirely while the Pelicans welcomed Jose Alvarado (oblique) back from a nine-game absence. The Pelicans brought the 26-year-old in on an offseason deal with the hope that he would provide a scoring punch as a lead guard off the bench, and though he's averaging 14.5 points in just 25.4 minutes per game on the season, Poole has connected on just 37 percent of his attempts from the field and 33.6 percent of his attempts from three-point range. Poole is on New Orleans' books through next season at a hefty salary, so unless the Pelicans unload him ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline, he'll likely get another look in the rotation at some point down the road in spite of his struggles.

Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Continues to trend down
Poole amassed 11 points (4-17 FG, 0-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), two rebounds, two assists and two steals in 28 minutes during Wednesday's 112-104 loss to the Pistons.
Poole continues to struggle to maintain fantasy value with the last-place Pelicans. Over his last seven appearances, the combo guard has averaged just 11.3 points, 1.7 assists, 1.6 rebounds and 2.4 three-pointers in 20.2 minutes per game, though he's shooting 47.2 percent from deep during this span.

Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Busy from long range Tuesday
Poole contributed 16 points (4-9 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 4-4 FT), one rebound, two assists and one steal in 20 minutes off the bench during Tuesday's 122-116 loss to Denver.
The 26-year-old guard continues to light it up from long distance. Poole has drained four or more three-pointers in six of his last nine games (two starts), averaging 14.9 points, 3.3 threes, 3.0 assists and 1.2 boards in 24.3 minutes while shooting 43.5 percent from beyond the arc.

Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Delivers 21 off bench in loss
Poole ended with 21 points (7-11 FG, 6-8 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two assists and one steal in 23 minutes off the bench during Sunday's 128-118 loss to Orlando.
The 26-year-old guard has been seeing a wildly varying role in the Pelicans' backcourt of late. Poole has started two of the last eight games and played anywhere from 12 to 39 minutes during that stretch, failing to score a point at all in two of those contests while topping 20 points in four others. That volatility makes him a risky DFS option, but Poole is averaging 14.8 points, 3.3 threes, 3.1 assists and 1.3 boards in 24.9 minutes in that time, production which has some value in deeper season-long formats.

Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Goes scoreless again
Poole registered zero points (0-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and one assist across 12 minutes during Friday's 128-107 victory over the Wizards.
Poole delivered another woeful performance, failing to score for the second time in the past three games. On the whole, Poole has been a disaster this season, both in terms of fantasy and reality. In 14 games over the past month, he has averaged 14.3 points, 3.4 assists and 2.3 three-pointers in 25.4 minutes per game, barely making him a top 200 player in standard leagues. At this point, it appears as though a trade is the only way of salvaging his season.

Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Not starting Friday
Poole won't start against the Wizards on Friday.
With Trey Murphy (back) returning from a one-game absence, Poole will slide back to the second unit. In 14 appearances off the bench this season, the 26-year-old guard has averaged 15.2 points, 3.2 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 25.4 minutes per contest.

Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Starting Wednesday
Poole is in the starting lineup for Wednesday's matchup with the Hawks.
Poole is coming off a scoreless, 0-for-4 shooting performance, but he'll have an excellent chance to bounce back Wednesday night with Trey Murphy (back), Herbert Jones (ankle) and Jose Alvarado (oblique) all watching from the sidelines. Poole has been better as a starter this season, posting averages of 17.4 points, 4.6 assists and 2.8 triples per contest.

Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Scoreless in loss
Poole amassed zero points (0-4 FG, 0-3 3Pt), one rebound, one assist and one block over 18 minutes during Tuesday's 111-103 loss to the Lakers.
Poole will want to forget about this dud quickly, as he finished scoreless for the first time this campaign. He's been in a shooting slump lately, hitting 35.0 percent from the field over his last seven games with 13.7 points, 4.0 assists, 2.1 rebounds and 2.3 three-pointers in 24.1 minutes per contest.

Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Dishes out eight assists in loss
Poole notched eight points (3-11 FG, 2-6 3Pt), eight assists, two blocks, one rebound and one steal across 25 minutes off the bench during Sunday's 125-106 loss to the Heat.
With Trey Murphy back in the lineup following a one-game absence due to back soreness, Poole came off the bench after getting the spot start in Friday's loss to Portland. The 26-year-old guard struggled to find his rhythm from the field, finishing with just eight points after scoring at least 16 in each of his previous three appearances. However, Poole still led the Pelicans in assists, dishing out a game- and season-high eight dimes. Additionally, he set a new season high in blocks as well.

Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Dishes six dimes in start
Poole closed with 16 points (5-16 FG, 4-11 3Pt, 2-3 FT), one rebound and six assists over 30 minutes during Friday's 122-109 loss to Portland.
Poole made his fifth start of the regular season Friday and first since Nov. 4 due to the absences of several key starters, including Trey Murphy (back) and Saddiq Bey (hip). Poole wasn't the most efficient from the field, but he led the Pelicans with six assists and finished tied with Karlo Matkovic as the team's third-leading scorer behind Zion Williamson (35 points) and Jeremiah Fears (18 points). Across the 10 games since returning from an 18-game absence due to a left quadriceps strain, Poole has averaged 17.1 points, 3.4 assists, 2.1 rebounds, 2.4 threes and 1.0 steals over 36.4 minutes per game, though he's connected on just 27.6 percent of his three-point attempts over that span.

Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Gets starting nod Friday
Poole will start against the Trail Blazers on Friday.
The Pelicans will be without several key contributors Friday, giving Poole the chance to step into the starting five for the first time since Nov. 4. Over nine outings in December, the 26-year-old shooting guard averaged 17.2 points, 3.1 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 26.0 minutes per contest.

Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Hits for 26 points in defeat
Poole ended with 26 points (6-14 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 10-10 FT), three rebounds and two assists in 26 minutes during Wednesday's 134-118 loss to Chicago.
The team's unwillingness to move Poole back into the starting lineup is a bit of a head-scratcher. Coach James Borrego seems focused on developing Jeremiah Fears, and the staff may have concluded that Poole's second-unit contribution is more valuable. They may be right on that account, as Poole is certainly logging minutes like a starter. He posted his second consecutive 26-point total during the loss, and we'll get a better idea of how he's doing with his sore ankle during an upcoming back-to-back scenario next week.

Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Explodes for 26 points in loss
Poole ended with 26 points (7-14 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 8-8 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one block over 26 minutes during Monday's 130-125 loss to the Knicks.
Poole could find his way back into a starting role soon, as he's consistently outperforming Jeremiah Fears off the bench. Fears logged only 22 minutes in the defeat, and Poole was obviously more effective for the duration of the game. Aside from a poor performance against the Sixers, Poole has made a strong case for a first-unit gig since returning from injury, averaging 16.1 points, 3.3 assists, 2.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals over the last eight games.

Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Returns with 19 points off bench
Poole logged 19 points (7-18 FG, 2-11 3Pt, 3-6 FT), five rebounds, six assists, one block and four steals across 31 minutes during Friday's 115-108 loss to Phoenix.
Poole missed the Pelicans' previous game with a nagging ankle injury, but he played through any residual pain and posted a solid number with the second unit. Although Jeremiah Fears appears to have a solid grasp on the starting gig at point guard, Poole will continue to push the youngster for time. The job was Poole's to lose earlier in the season, and his ankle kept him from retaining the role. Once Poole is back to 100 percent, the tide may turn in New Orleans' backcourt.
