Thompson provided 23 points (8-16 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 7-9 FT), eight rebounds, three assists and two blocks over 37 minutes during Monday's 133-125 loss to the Jazz.
Thompson bounced back from a dud Sunday against the Jazz in which he was held to five points on 2-for-8 from the field. He was far more aggressive on the offensive end Monday, and while he was unable to connect from deep, he still reached the 20-point threshold. Thompson has also been productive on the boards of late, averaging 9.0 rebounds over his last seven appearances.

Rockets' Amen Thompson: Double-double in Wednesday's win
Thompson contributed 10 points (4-12 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 14 rebounds, three assists and one steal in 38 minutes during Wednesday's 104-100 victory over Golden State.
The 14 boards were a season high for Thompson, and the double-double was his third in 16 games. The third-year guard has scored in double digits in every contest so far in 2025-26, averaging 17.4 points, 6.9 boards, 5.1 assists and 1.4 steals in 36.6 minutes. Thompson's long-distance shooting remains the weak link in his skill set, however. He's shooting just 22.2 percent (8-for-36) from beyond the arc.

Thompson chipped in 28 points (10-16 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 7-7 FT), seven rebounds, eight assists and one block across 37 minutes during Monday's 114-92 victory over the Suns.
The third-year guard led the Rockets in scoring on the night while tying his season high in points and assists. Thompson has scored in double digits in every game to begin the 2025-26 campaign, averaging 17.9 points, 6.4 boards, 5.2 assists and 1.5 steals. Thompson was aggressive from the jump in this one, scoring eight of the Rockets' first 12 points, and this was his second game of the season with at least one steal and a block. He's been heating up over the past three, posting averages of 20.7 points on 55.8 percent shooting from the field and 66.7 percent at the stripe to go with 7.7 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 1.0 steal per contest.

Rockets' Amen Thompson: Team option picked up
Houston exercised their 2026-27 team option for Thompson on Friday, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.
No surprise here, as the Rockets likely viewed this as a formality for one of their franchise building blocks. Thompson's option is valued at $12.3 million. Through four regular-season games, Thompson is averaging 14.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists.

While Thompson shot it well from beyond the arc throughout the preseason, he still hasn't been able to get any of his three-point looks to fall through the first four games of the year, going 0-10 from distance. The Rockets clearly want him to keep taking those shots to help spread the floor, but there will be some growing pains. On a positive note, this was his first game of the season with multiple steals and more than four rebounds, so he's trending in the right direction.

Rockets' Amen Thompson: Struggles with foul trouble in loss
Thompson finished Friday's 115-111 loss to the Pistons with 10 points (2-8 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 6-10 FT), four rebounds, one assist and two turnovers across 30, foul-plagued minutes.
It's been a slow start to the season for Thompson, who dealt with cramping issues in the opener and then foul trouble in this one. He also got clocked in the face by Jalen Duren, which may have put him off-kilter. That said, he'll draw an ideal matchup against the Nets on Monday, so maybe he'll be able to really step into gear during Week 2.

Rockets' Amen Thompson: Limited by cramps in loss
Head coach Ime Udoka said postgame that Thompson was dealing with cramping in his calf late in Tuesday's 125-124 double-overtime loss to the Thunder, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports. He finished with 18 points (8-17 FG, 0-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five assists, four rebounds, one steal and one block across 39 minutes.
Thompson appeared to deal with cramping in the first overtime period and was seen stretching his calf after exiting with 2:58 remaining. He remained on the bench but never checked back into the game. The 22-year-old still finished as Houston's third-leading scorer, though he struggled mightily from beyond the arc. His status will be worth monitoring ahead of Friday's game against the Pistons.
