Elie Okobo: Continues career in France
Okobo signed a contract with French club LDLC ASVEL in July.
A 2018 second-round pick of the Suns, Okobo appeared in 108 games between the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons before being cut loose last November. After spending the 2020-21 campaign with the Nets' G League affiliate, the 23-year-old point guard will head back to his home country to continue his career. He could revisit a return to North America down the road if he impresses over in Europe.

Elie Okobo: Another woeful shooting display
Okobo registered 11 points (5-13 FG, 1-5 3Pt), eight assists, four rebounds and three steals across 32 minutes off the bench in Saturday's loss against Santa Cruz.
Okobo was one of four Long Island players to score in double digits in this one, and while he struggled massively from the floor, he delivered value in other areas of the game -- he ended just two dimes away from a double-double while also tying a season-high mark of three steals. Okobo is averaging 8.2 points per game while shooting a meager 35.1 percent from the field, but he's also putting up 4.6 assists and 3.6 rebounds per contest.

Elie Okobo: Struggles from deep again
Okobo notched 12 points (5-12 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six rebounds and two assists across 25 minutes in Sunday's loss against Greensboro.
Okobo is shooting 38.5 percent from deep through the first three games of the season, and while he hasn't looked overmatched as he looked at the NBA level, he has been unable to make a difference considering he has more than 100 games in The Association throughout his career.

Elie Okobo: One assist shy of double-double
Okobo registered 13 points (4-10 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), nine assists, three rebounds and a steal across 29 minutes in Wednesday's win over Iowa.
Okobo looked overmatched at the NBA level during a two-year stint with the Suns, but he looked completely comfortable orchestrating the offense for Long Island in this one. He is expected to be one of the Nets' most important players simply because he has 108 games of NBA experience under his belt, and he backed that up with a strong season-opening performance.

Elie Okobo: Reporting to G League bubble
The Long Island Nets announced Wednesday that Okobo will be a member of their 12-man roster for the 2020-21 G League season in Orlando.
Okobo had previously signed an Exhibit 10 deal with Brooklyn in the offseason, allowing the organization to retain his G League rights after he was cut during training camp. The 23-year-old point guard will look to turn some heads in Orlando after he proved overmatched at the NBA level as a member of the Suns' roster the past two seasons. Over 108 games with Phoenix, Okobo shot 39.5 percent from the field while averaging 4.8 points, 2.2 assists and 1.7 rebounds in 15.5 minutes.

Elie Okobo: Cut by Phoenix
The Suns waived Okobo on Monday.
Okobo's dismissal doesn't come as a major surprise with the Suns having already added four guards (Chris Paul, E'Twaun Moore, Langston Galloway and Ty-Shon Alexander) through trades and free agency this offseason, while moving on from only three others (Ricky Rubio, Ty Jerome and Jalen Lecque). The first pick in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft, Okobo struggled with the jump in competition from France over his first two seasons in North America. He appeared in 108 career games (19 starts) for the Suns, averaging 4.8 points and 2.2 assists in 15.5 minutes while shooting 39.5 percent from the field.
