Top Tre Jones News

  • Bulls' Tre Jones: Out at least two weeks

The Bulls announced Saturday that Jones has been diagnosed with a left foot sprain and will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

Jones had already been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Lakers after sustaining the injury in Thursday's win over the Kings, but follow-up tests revealed that the foot sprain is significant enough to keep the veteran point guard out for multiple weeks. Josh Giddey should slide over from the wing to replace Jones as the Bulls' starting point guard, while Jones' upcoming absence should enable Kevin Huerter to maintain a consistent 30-plus-minute role as a starter in the backcourt. Jones had averaged 14.9 points, 7.1 assists, 4.8 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 0.9 three-pointers in 33.2 minutes per game while starting in each of the last nine contests, but he'll likely be in line for a bench role if he returns for the final week of the regular season. Lonzo Ball (wrist) looks to be tracking toward a return before Jones, who had been coming off the bench when Ball was available.

  • Bulls' Tre Jones: Officially ruled out

Jones (foot) won't play in Saturday's game versus the Lakers.

Jones has been downgraded from questionable to out Saturday due to a left midfoot sprain after being seen in a walking boot earlier in the day. Jevon Carter and Talen Horton-Tucker are candidates to receive increased playing time in his absence. Jones' next chance to suit up is Monday's matchup with Denver, though it wouldn't be surprising to miss an extended period.

  • Bulls' Tre Jones: Seen in walking boot

Jones (foot) was seen in a walking boot at shootaround ahead of Saturday's game versus the Lakers, Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Jones is officially listed as questionable due to a left midfoot sprain he suffered against Sacramento. However, Jones being seen in a walking boot is a bad sign of his availability for Saturday's contest.

  • Bulls' Tre Jones: Iffy to play Saturday

Jones (foot) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Lakers.

Jones sustained the left midfoot sprain during Thursday's win over the Kings, and he could miss his first game since Feb. 8. The 25-year-old point guard has made nine consecutive starts, averaging 14.9 points, 7.1 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals across 33.2 minutes per contest.

  • Bulls' Tre Jones: Suffers foot injury Thursday

Jones exited Thursday's 128-116 win over the Kings with 1:59 remaining in the fourth quarter due to a left midfoot sprain, K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network reports.

Jones posted 15 points (6-10 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven assists, four rebounds and two steals across 33 minutes before checking out of the contest while the Bulls held a 12-point lead in the final two minutes, but his early exit didn't seem like it was merely out of precaution. He hobbled to the bench and was sent in for X-rays in the locker room, which came back negative. Though Jones isn't dealing with any structural damage to his foot, the sprain could end up costing him some game action. Josh Giddey (ankle) should be back in action for Saturday's game against the Lakers and will likely start at point guard if Jones is ruled out, while Kevin Huerter would presumably continue to handle a 30-plus-minute role on the wing.

  • Bulls' Tre Jones: Double-doubles in win

Jones notched 18 points (8-10 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 12 assists, four rebounds and three steals over 34 minutes during Monday's 111-97 victory over the Jazz.

Jones posted a game- and season-high mark in assists en route to his first double-double on the season. Additionally, he recorded a game-high mark in steals. The 25-year-old point guard has been a mainstay in the starting five of late due to Josh Giddey (ankle) and Lonzo Ball (wrist) being sidelined. Jones has started in the club's last seven outings, scoring 15 or more points in five of them.

  • Bulls' Tre Jones: Strikes for 19 in Houston

Jones totaled 19 points (8-13 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two rebounds and six assists over 33 minutes during Saturday's 117-114 loss to the Rockets.

Starting his sixth straight game in the absence of Lonzo Ball (wrist), Jones scored at least 15 points for the fourth time while dishing at least five assists for the fifth time. The fifth-year guard is averaging 14.8 points, 6.0 assists, 4.8 boards, 1.0 steals and 1.0 threes during his starting stint, and with Ball lacking a firm timeline for his return and not even accompanying the Bulls on a road trip that started Saturday, Jones doesn't seem as though he'll return to the bench any time soon.

  • Bulls' Tre Jones: Stuffs stat sheet in victory

Jones posted 18 points (6-12 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 5-6 FT), six rebounds, six assists and three steals in 36 minutes during Thursday's 116-110 win over the Nets.

The 25-year-old has started in five consecutive contests due to Lonzo Ball (wrist) being sidelined, and he tied Kevin Huerter for the team's second-highest mark in scoring behind Coby White (31 points). Additionally, Jones finished with a team high in steals, marking his ninth outing with multiple swipes on the season. The fifth-year point guard has averaged 14.0 points, 6.0 assists, 5.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals across 33.4 minutes per contest in that five-game span. He has been efficient during his stint in the starting lineup, shooting 50.0 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from three-point range.

  • Bulls' Tre Jones: Struggles with shot

Jones closed Monday's 121-103 win over the Pacers with eight points (4-12 FG, 0-1 3Pt), three rebounds, eight assists and one block over 34 minutes.

This wasn't Jones' best night from the field, obviously, but he's cleared 30 minutes in four straight games while Lonzo Ball (wrist) remains on the shelf. During that stretch, Jones has produced ninth-round value in nine-category formats with 13.0 points, 6.0 assists, 5.3 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.8 blocks in 32.6 minutes.

  • Bulls' Tre Jones: Scores season-high 20 points

Jones totaled 20 points (7-12 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 5-5 FT), five rebounds, four assists and one steal across 30 minutes during Thursday's 125-123 win over the Magic.

Jones started for the second straight game, pouring in a season-high 20 points. He has now scored in double digits in four of the past five games, taking advantage of the fact the Bulls are without a couple of key backcourt pieces. The eventual return of Lonzo Ball from a wrist injury could cut into Jones' playing time, but for now his role appears relatively secure.

  • Bulls' Tre Jones: Receives spot start vs. Cavs

Jones will enter the starting lineup in Tuesday's game against Cleveland.

The 25-year-old point guard will make his first start as a member of the Bulls due to Josh Giddey (quadricep) and Lonzo Ball (wrist) being sidelined. Jones has averaged 8.1 points, 2.7 assists and 1.7 rebounds across 17.2 minutes per game in nine outings with Chicago.

  • Bulls' Tre Jones: Plays well against Indiana

Jones registered 11 points (5-6 FG, 1-1 FT) and six assists across 27 minutes during Sunday's 127-112 loss to the Pacers.

Ayo Dosunmu will undergo season-ending surgery to address left shoulder instability, opening the door for Jones to play a larger role going forward. He made the most of his minutes Sunday and is picking up steam as a potential pickup in standard formats if he can keep up the momentum. Especially for fantasy managers in need of assists and steals.

  • Bulls' Tre Jones: Supplies season-high 16 points

Jones finished Wednesday's 122-117 loss to the Clippers with 16 points (7-9 FG, 2-2 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists and one steal across 18 minutes off the bench.

The 16 points were a season high for Jones, topping the 15 he delivered in the final game before the All-Star break. Those are the only two times he's scored in double digits since joining the Bulls, however, and the 25-year-old point guard is struggling to find his footing with his new club. Over seven contests since being traded from San Antonio, Jones has yet to play more than 19 minutes off the second unit, averaging 7.4 points, 2.3 assists, 2.0 boards and 1.0 steals in 16.6 minutes a game.

  • Bulls' Tre Jones: Solid outing off bench

Jones finished Thursday's 113-111 overtime loss to New York with five points (2-5 FG, 1-1 3Pt), one rebound and one block over 13 minutes.

Since being traded from the Spurs to the Bulls, Jones has operated as the team's backup point guard to Josh Giddey. In his first four appearances with Chicago, Jones averaged 7.0 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.3 steals in 16.5 minutes.

  • Bulls' Tre Jones: Good to go Saturday

Jones (recently traded) will be available to make his Bulls debut Saturday against the Warriors, Cody Westerlund of 670TheScore.com reports.

Jones was traded to the Bulls on Sunday in a move headlined by De'Aaron Fox going to the Spurs and Zach LaVine heading to the Kings. Jones was held out of the Bulls' last two games, but now that the trade deadline has passed, he will suit up for Saturday's contest. Jones has averaged 5.5 points, 3.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds over 15.3 minutes per game since the beginning of January.

  • Bulls' Tre Jones: Could make Chicago debut Saturday

Head coach Billy Donovan said Tuesday that Jones (recently traded) won't play until Saturday's game against Golden State at the earliest, Cody Westerlund of 670TheScore.com reports.

Jones will miss Tuesday's game against the Heat and Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves, though the Bulls are eyeing Saturday for his potential debut. However, it is possible that the club will attempt to trade the 25-year-old before Thursday's deadline.

  • Bulls' Tre Jones: Won't play Tuesday

Jones (recently traded) will not play Tuesday against the Heat, K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

Jones isn't on the injury report, to be clear, but the Bulls are holding him out anyway -- Johnson reports that the Bulls could look to flip Jones and/or Kevin Huerter at the deadline. With that in mind, it's unclear if Jones will play Wednesday in Minnesota either.

  • Bulls' Tre Jones: Not on injury report for Tuesday

Jones (recently traded) is not listed on the injury report for Tuesday's game against the Heat.

The point guard is expected to make his Bulls debut after having been included in Sunday's deal that sent Kevin Huerter, Zach Collins and Jones to Chicago. The 25-year-old will likely have to compete for playing time off the bench in a fairly crowded backcourt. Jones started the 2024-25 campaign with the Spurs, averaging 4.4 points, 3.8 assists and 2.1 rebounds across 16.1 minutes per contest in 28 regular-season outings off the bench.
