Marcin Gortat: Retires after 12 seasons
Gortat retired from the NBA on Sunday, Emiliano Carchia of Sportando.com reports.
The Polish center officially called it quits Sunday after a solid 12-year campaign, as he concluded his career with an average of 9.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. Gortat, who was originally drafted by the Suns in the second round of the 2005 NBA Draft, spent time with the Magic, Raptors, Suns, Wizards and Clippers throughout his NBA career. The center enjoyed the best season of his tenure during the 2011-12 campaign with Phoenix, where he averaged a career-best 15.4 points and 10.0 rebounds across 66 games played.

Clippers' Marcin Gortat: Waived by Clippers
Gortat was waived by the Clippers on Thursday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Gortat's role fluctuated heavily throughout the season, including DNP-CDs. So his departure from a now-rebuilding team isn't surprising. Overall, he appeared in 47 games with the Clippers, averaging 5.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 16.0 minutes. It's possible he lands somewhere on the buyout market.

Clippers' Marcin Gortat: Offers little in starting role
Gortat put up zero points (0-1 FG), eight rebounds and one assist in 13 minutes Tuesday in the Clippers' 117-115 win over the Hornets.
Gortat failed to see the court while serving as the third-string center in the Clippers' last game Sunday against the Raptors, but he reclaimed his spot on the top unit two days later. The starting assignment didn't mean much, however, as Gortat still played far less minutes than the top center on the roster, Montrezl Harrell (28 minutes). After the game, the Clippers tinkered with their center options by trading Boban Marjanovic to the 76ers in a six-player deal that returned Mike Muscala, among others. A floor-stretching big man, Muscala could get a look in the rotation over the next few months and bump Gortat back down to third on the depth chart.

Clippers' Marcin Gortat: Starting Tuesday
Gortat will start Tuesday against the Hornets, Rod Boone of The Athletic reports.
Gortat was given a DNP-CD on Sunday against the Raptors, but he'll be promoted to the starting lineup Tuesday, pushing Montrezl Harrell back to the bench. In 20 starts on the road this season, Gortat is averaging 5.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists across 16.8 minutes.

Clippers' Marcin Gortat: Drops out of rotation
Gortat (coach's decision) didn't play Sunday in the Clippers' 121-103 loss to the Raptors.
After starting the Clippers' previous six games, Gortat was dropped from the rotation entirely with Montrezl Harrell moving up to the top unit and Boban Marjanovic serving as the backup center. Coach Doc Rivers has occasionally swapped Gortat out for Marjanovic based on matchups, so Gortat's lack of playing time Sunday doesn't necessarily signal his permanent removal from the rotation. That said, Gortat is averaging 5.1 points, 5.5 boards and 1.4 assists in 16.0 minutes per game when he plays this season, so there's little fantasy upside to be mined here.

Clippers' Marcin Gortat: Productive scorer in limited run
Gortat generated 10 points (5-6 FG), five rebounds and one assist across 16 minutes Monday in the Clippers' 123-118 loss to the Hawks.
Gortat reached double digits in the scoring column for just the third time in January, with his suppressed minutes at the root of his limited production. Though he continues to serve as the Clippers' starting center, he routinely cedes most of the playing time at the position to backup Montrezl Harrell. The minutes distribution between the two big men isn't likely to change at any point in the near future.

Clippers' Marcin Gortat: Nears double-double in win
Gortat finished with 10 points (5-9 FG), eight rebounds and one assists in 22 minutes during Wednesday's win over the Heat.
Gortat finished in double-figures for the second time in 2019 in his return to the starting lineup. He'd received little run in the reserve role, playing just 12 total minutes over two games. While the uptick in minutes and production are promising, Gortat's averaging just 16.2 minutes per game this season, and due to depth of the Clippers' frontcourt, doesn't have a large enough opportunity to produce fantasy-relevant numbers consistently.

Clippers' Marcin Gortat: Gets start Wednesday
Gortat will start Wednesday's game against the Heat, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Gortat will return to the starting lineup after filling a reserve role for the past two games. Regardless of his role, Gortat's struggled to produce this year, recording 5.1 points and 5.6 rebounds in just 16.2 minutes per game.

Clippers' Marcin Gortat: Heads to bench
Gortat will come off the bench Sunday against the Spurs, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports.
Gortat has started each of his team's last nine contests but will transition to a bench role in San Antonio. Montrezl Harrell is slated to start at center in Gortat's place.

Clippers' Marcin Gortat: Well-rounded line in Sunday's win
Gortat totaled eight points (4-8 FG), 10 rebounds, six assists, and one block in 25 minutes during Sunday's 106-96 win over the Magic.
Gortat has put together two straight solid outings, following up Friday's season highs in points (18) and rebounds (13) with a season high six dimes in this one. He has earned 24.0 minutes per game through the first three games of January, this after seeing just 15.3 minutes per game during December. Gortat still has to split time with Montrezl Harrell, but the veteran remains capable of contributing here and there, albeit on an inconsistent basis.

Clippers' Marcin Gortat: Double-doubles in victory
Gortat finished with 18 points (8-10 FG, 2-2 FT), 13 rebounds, one assist, and one block in 25 minutes during Friday's 121-111 victory over the Suns.
Gortat blew up for his first double-double of the season Friday, putting up season-high numbers in both scoring and rebounding. This was vintage Gortat but given his form across the season, appears to be merely an outlier as opposed to what could be a regular thing. He can be left on the waivers in basically all formats.

Clippers' Marcin Gortat: Serviceable production in start
Gortat produced six points (1-4 FG, 4-4 FT), seven rebounds, two assists and two steals across 22 minutes in the Clippers' 119-113 loss to the 76ers on Tuesday.
The veteran got the starting nod as part of coach Doc Rivers' attempt to counter Joel Embiid's size down low, and Gortat was able to post solid numbers relative to playing time. However, he unsurprisingly had a difficult time containing Embiid with any degree of consistency. Gortat's opportunities had been scarce in the three contests prior to Tuesday's, as he'd logged just 12 combined minutes in the previous two games and did not see the floor altogether three games ago versus the Kings. Gortat is likely to be judiciously deployed in similar fashion throughout the balance of the season in an effort to limit wear and tear on his 34-year-old body.

Clippers' Marcin Gortat: Starting Tuesday
Gortat will get the start at center for Tuesday's tilt against the 76ers, Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.com reports.
Gortat has has played a reserve role in favor of Boban Marjanovic the previous three games, but he will return to the first-unit Tuesday. He is averaging 4.9 points and 5.8 rebounds across 17.2 minutes per game as a starter, and should presumably see a similar workload Tuesday.

Clippers' Marcin Gortat: Dropped from rotation
Gortat (coach's decision) didn't see the floor Wednesday in the Clippers' 127-118 loss to the Kings.
After Boban Marjanovic was announced as the starting center prior to the contest, it was always likely that Gortat would drop out of the rotation as a result. The Clippers have routinely deployed only two centers in competitive games throughout the season, with second-unit standout Montrezl Harrell handling the bulk of the minutes at the position while either Marjanovic or Gortat fills the smaller portion of the timeshare. Coach Doc Rivers' decision to deploy Gortat or Marjanovic is typically dictated by matchup, so it's entirely possible that Gortat re-enters the rotation as soon as Friday against the Lakers while Marjanovic checks out.

Clippers' Marcin Gortat: Starting Tuesday
Gortat will start at center Tuesday against the Raptors, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports.
Gortat has caught two DNP-Coach's Decisions in a row, but will start Tuesday, sending Boban Marjanovic to the bench. Gortat is averaging 5.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 17.4 minutes this season.

Clippers' Marcin Gortat: Productive despite back issues
Gortat (back) mustered nine points (4-5 FG, 1-1 FT), five rebounds, one assist and one block across 18 minutes in the Clippers' 133-121 win over the Kings on Thursday.
Gortat appeared unencumbered by the back issues he'd been dealing with prior to tip-off, as he turned in a highly efficient effort. The 34-year-old's minutes continue to be planted firmly in the teens on most nights, but they've been enough to allow him to produce solid scoring and rebounding numbers relative to playing time. The veteran figures to continue being used judiciously by coach Doc Rivers, with an eye on keeping refreshed and healthy for what the team hopes will be a postseason run.

Clippers' Marcin Gortat: Good to go Thursday
Gortat (back) will play Thursday against the Kings, Andrew Greif of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Gortat's status was a bit murky after he recently suffered a back injury while in the weight room, but he's been given the green light in Sacramento. He'll presumably draw the start at center as usual.
