2026 NFL roster cuts tracker: All the moves made by all 32 teams on cutdown day

Imagn Images

For the first time in 22 years, the NFL decided to hold final cuts on a Sunday, and things definitely got kind of crazy with nearly 1,200 players being released over the weekend.

During the preseason, teams are allowed to carry 90 players on their roster, but that number had to be cut to just 53 by the cut deadline at 6 p.m. ET Sunday, which means a total of 1,184 players were released, including Titans QB Will Levis.

Now that we have cuts out of the way, each team will still have plenty of opportunities to re-shape their roster, and the first big chance will come this week with the waiver wire. After getting cut, any player with less than four years of NFL experience will hit the waiver wire, where they can be claimed by another team. The waiver order is the same as the 2026 NFL Draft order, so the Raiders will have first dibs on claiming any player who goes on waivers. The deadline for claims is Monday at 1 p.m. ET. After that deadline, teams will be notified by the NFL whether their claim went through (if two teams claim the same player, the player will go to the team with higher priority in the waiver order).

Any player with more than four years of experience will officially become a free agent after getting cut, so they won't hit the waiver wire, and they'll be eligible to sign with any team as soon as Monday, so we could see a rash of signings starting this week.

And let's not forget about the 32 practice squads that will be created over the next few days. Practice squad signings will start this week, and each team is allowed to sign up to 16 players to their squad, which can rise to 17 if a team adds an international player. That means at least 512 players will get an NFL deal this week.

To keep you up to date with all the action, we'll be keeping tabs on all the latest news, rumors and waiver claims here in our live blog. We've also got a full team-by-team list of every cut that's been made, and you can check that out here.

NFL cut day explainer: How the waiver wire works

Now that we've made our way through every single cut that was made today, it's time to talk about what's up next. Over the next 24 hours, there's going to be a lot action and most of it is going to come on the waiver wire.

So how does the waiver wire work?

Well, I'm glad you asked. We saw 1,184 players get released this weekend, and out of that total, the ones that have four years of NFL experience or less will hit the waiver wire.

The waiver order is the same as the 2026 NFL Draft order, so here are the teams that will have first crack at making claims:

1. Raiders
2. Jets
3. Cardinals
4. Titans
5. Giants
6. Browns
7. Commanders
8. Saints
9. Chiefs
10. Bengals

The Raiders can claim as many players as they want, but if they claim a player, that guy automatically hits their 53-man roster, so they'd also have to release someone to make room for the new guy (If they claimed 8 players, they'd have to release 8 players to make room).

Any team looking to claim a player who was part of the initial cuts will have to turn their claim in by 1 p.m. ET on Monday. If two teams claim the same player, the player will go to the team that has a higher priority in the waiver order (And as I mentioned, the Raiders have priority over everyone since they're at the top of the waiver wire).

If a player clears waivers -- and doesn't get claimed by anyone -- he can re-sign with the team that just released him. Teams will generally go this route if they want to bring a player back as a member of the practice squad.

I hope everyone had fun this weekend! Now, I'm going to go take a nap.

Ravens finally announce their moves: Baltimore gets roster down to 53

The NFL's cut deadline was at 6 p.m. ET on Sunday, but someone must have forgotten to tell the Ravens, because they didn't get their cuts out until nearly 9:30 p.m. ET.

Chargers don't have a punter after making final roster cuts

I'm not sure what's going on in California, but apparently, there's an anti-punter bias. The 49ers don't currently have a punter on their roster after releasing their only one on Sunday and the Chargers followed suit by dumping JK Scott.

It's very possible that the Chargers plan to re-sign him later this week, but it's also possible that Jim Harbaugh is still mad about Scott's tackling effort on this punt return.

Harbaugh seems like a guy who would hold a grudge over an effort like that.

Anyway, here's a full look at the players who were released along with Scott:

WR Sincere Brown
WR Dalevon Campbell
LB Kyle Kennard
S Noah Avinger

The Jets are moving forward with just two quarterbacks on their roster, They cut Bailey Zappe and Brady Cook, which leaves Geno Smith and rookie Cade Klubnik as the only quarterbacks on the roster. Raiders final cuts could be good news for Aston Jeanty

Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty suffered a sprained ankle last week and although it's still unclear how serious it is, the Raiders seem to be optimistic about his recovery based on the moves they made Sunday. The Raiders cut two running backs, which is depth you'd probably want to keep if Jeanty was going to miss a few weeks. The Raiders also cut the Japanese Toe, Kansei Matsuzawa, which leaves Matt Gay as the winner of the kicking battle.
