The 49ers training camp began Friday with perfect attendance in Santa Clara, Calif. With every starter back on defense and a new-look receiving corps, it marked the official beginning for a team with serious Super Bowl aspirations.
Who's here: Everyone. Headed into the week, it was questionable whether S Dashon Goldson would report on time, but he cleared up that mystery when he signed his franchise tender Thursday. “It was a no-brainer, man. I owed it to my teammates,” Goldson said when asked about showing up to camp on time. “Those guys have been working extremely hard. I missed a little part of the offseason earlier and I didn’t want to miss another part of this training camp. I wanted to come back out here and sharpen up, pick up from where we started off last year.”
Who's not: Rookie OL Joe Looney was present, but he spent Friday on a separate field rehabbing his Lisfranc (foot) injury. There is no exact timetable for Looney’s return, but he is able to run and is expected to practice with the team at some point during training camp. LB Darius Fleming, the team’s fifth-round pick, will miss the season with a torn ACL, but he was at the facility and watched portions of practice.
