49ers vs. Texans: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Sunday's NFL game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the 49ers vs. Texans football game
Game Recap
If the Houston Texans were expecting to get some payback for the 26-16 defeat against the San Francisco 49ers when they previously met in December of 2017, then they were left disappointed. On Sunday, the Texans lost to San Francisco on the road by a decisive 23-7 margin. Houston's low-scoring loss was the unsatisfying follow-up to their high-scoring outing the game before.
San Francisco's RB Elijah Mitchell did his thing and picked up 119 yards on the ground on 21 carries in addition to snatching one receiving TD. QB Trey Lance had a good game, too, finishing with two touchdowns.
Special teams collected 11 points for San Francisco. K Robbie Gould delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
No one had a standout game offensively for Houston, but they got one touchdown from WR Brandin Cooks.
The Texans, 4-12, have officially been eliminated from playoff contention. The 49ers' win brought them up to 9-7.
Houston will take on the Tennessee Titans at 1 p.m. ET next Sunday at home. Tennessee is 7-3 after wins this year, and Houston is 2-9 after losses. As for San Francisco, they will face off against the Los Angeles Rams at 4:25 p.m. ET next Sunday at SoFi Stadium. Like San Francisco, Los Angeles is also coming into the contest bolstered by a recent victory.
