- First-round pick Michael Floyd has been coming along nicely, albeit slowly. The Cardinals have been and will continue to use Floyd more as the season progresses, though it will be difficult for him to crack the top two of Larry Fitzgerald and Andre Roberts.
“I think Michael has worked his way into playing more,” Cards coach Ken Whisenhunt told Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com. “We’ve got some receivers who are playing pretty good in front of him. Andre’s got what? How many touchdowns? (Five). He’s playing pretty good. So what do you do, play him over Andre? Michael has been playing well. He’s going to be worked into the offense more and deservedly so. I think it sends the right message to your team when that happens.” As Urban notes, Floyd has played in roughly 60 percent of the team's offensive snaps over the last two weeks before Sunday's bye, up from 45 percent earlier in the year.
- With O'Brien Schofield out for the season with torn ligaments in his ankle, Arizona is forced to look elsewhere, Urban writes. Linebacker Quentin Groves has stepped into the starter's role, but Schofield's loss will be a big one, as he's had four sacks and 34 tackles for the Cardinals.
- In Schofield's place, the team signed defensive end Ronald Talley, but as Kent Somers of AZCentral.com writes, it may be to fix other wounds. Calais Campbell was set to miss practice over the weekend because of an undisclosed leg injury, and that could set back the already reeling Arizona defense even more if he's forced to miss time.
