Thanks to Jarryd Hayne, the 49ers might soon be the most popular NFL team in Australia.
The former rugby league star, who came to the United States in March to give the NFL a try, tweeted on Saturday that he's made the 49ers 53-man roster.
Hayne actually live-tweeted his trip to the coach's office.
The biggest question about Hayne going into training camp was: Will his rugby skills translate to the football field?
The Australian that question in the 49ers first preseason game by rushing for 63 yards on only five carries in a 23-10 loss to the Texans.
Hayne was a workhorse for the entire preseason and ended up as the NFL's second leading preseason rusher with 175 yards on 25 carries.
Of course, Hayne didn't just play running back for Niners, he also returned punts.
And caught passes.
The play above went viral after Hayne trucked Chargers cornerback Lowell Rose. With Hayne now on the 49ers 53-man roster, we can probably look forward to many more truckings to come.
