UPDATE (4:08 p.m. ET): The Bears have ended Chilo Rachal's season, placing him on the reserve/nonfootball injury list.
----------
Bears guard Chilo Rachal made one of the weirder decisions during Monday night's game when, after a Jason Campbell fumble in the end zone, he waited a second before picking up the ball and then, instead of running it out of the end zone, tried to throw it away. It resulted in a safety.
The Bears demoted Rachal in favor of Chris Spencer. Soon after that on Wednesday, according to the Chicago Tribune, an upset Rachal unexpectedly left the team facility. The Bears later announced Rachal had left the team for personal reasons.
On Thursday, Rachal reportedly returned to the team facilities.
Offensive guard Chilo Rachal returned to Halas Hall this morning, according to a source. His emotional state is “very bad” source said.

At this point, the status of Rachal -- who had five days to return to the team before being placed on the reserved list, which would have ended his season -- is unclear. But the rest of the offensive line, which allowed six sacks to the 49ers on Monday, is in flux.
According to Michael C. Wright of ESPN Chicago, right tackle Gabe Carimi also has been benched.
