The Bengals opened training camp in downtown Cincinnati for the first time in team history Friday. With the city skyline on the backdrop nearly all of the 1,600 free passes were vanquished by fans on a sweltering afternoon. They witnessed DB Adam Jones and WR Mohamed Sanu leave early with cramps and adjustment to the first full practice. DE Robert Geathers tweaked his leg, but the team escaped healthy on most fronts.
Who’s here: Leon Hall. He hit his goal recovery date from an Achilles injury and took on a hefty workload for Day 1 after being cleared. He lined up in his rightful spot with the first team and called his technique rusty, but the Achilles injury was fine.
Who’s not: Jordan Shipley, who tore his ACL in the season opener last season, was not cleared to practice and was placed on the active PUP list. The news comes as a slight surprise as Shipley stated Thursday he was "ready to go for sure," after participating in the physical.
"I think I am getting close (to 100 percent)," he said. "I think everything is going to be fine."
DT Pat Sims (ankle), K Mike Nugent (hamstring) and DB Nate Clements (abdominal/groin) also were placed on active PUP. The timing couldn't be worse for Sims who saw not one, but two defensive tackles drafted in the top three rounds. His roster spot sits in significant jeopardy.
Fortunately, Paul Dehner Jr. is still allowed to tweet about the team and you can follow theBengals reporter @CBSSportsNFLCIN and @pauldehnerjr.
