The Bengals roster is beginning come into focus with one preseason game in the books. There will be interesting decisions to make at wide receiver and defensive back that will have ripple effects through the back end of the roster. Each week during preseason, RapidReports will take a position-by-position look at the players we think are likely to make the final cut to 53 on Sept. 2 and those who we think will be sent packing.

QB -- In: (2) Andy Dalton, Bruce Gradkowski. Out: Zac Robinson, Tyler Hansen. Analysis: No surprises here. Marvin Lewis rolled with two quarterbacks last season and is a proponent of the philosophy. Expect Robinson to be added to the practice squad. 

RB -- In: (5) BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Bernard Scott, Brian Leonard, Cedric Peerman, Chris Pressley (FB). Out: Dan Herron, Aaron Brown, Jourdan Brooks, James Develin. Analysis: The running back is about the most predictable of the position groups. The Law Firm and Scott will split the majority of the starting carries with Leonard still holding on to his role as third-down back. Peerman is cherished in special teams and Pressley had next to no competition in camp. Herron will be a lock for the practice squad if he makes it through waivers. 

WR -- In: (6) A.J. Green, Armon Binns, Brandon Tate, Andrew Hawkins, Mohamed Sanu, Marvin Jones. Out: Jordan Shipley, Justin Hilton, Vidal Hazelton, Kashif Moore, Ryan Whalen. Probably the toughest cut of camp will come at the final WR spot. Shipley is only one year removed from leading all AFC rookies in receiving yards. Yet, his ACL tear from last year leaves him without the burst that made him great in the slot and Cincinnati can't afford to expose third-round pick Sanu or fifth-round pick Jones to waivers. They've been too impressive. 

TE -- In: (3) Jermaine Gresham, Donald Lee, Orson Charles. Out: Colin Cochart. Analysis: Barring injury, Cochart will be the odd man out. He benefited from a preseason injury to Bo Scaife last year, but didn't show enough to unseat the two veterans and a promising prospect in Charles. 

OL -- In (9): Andrew Whitworth, Clint Boling, Kyle Cook, Kevin Zeitler, Andre Smith, Anthony Collins, Otis Hudson, Dennis Roland, Reggie Stephens. Out: Matt Murphy, Trevor Robinson, Matthew O'Donnell. Analysis: The season-ending injury to Travelle Wharton saved Stephens a job because versatile backup Boling now relinquishes his job as backup center as the starter at LG. Expect Robinson to be destined for the practice squad. 

DL -- In (8): Carlos Dunlap, Domata Peko, Geno Atkins, Michael Johnson, Robert Geathers, Devon Still, Brandon Thompson, Jamaal Anderson. Out: Pat Sims, Nick Hayden, Vaughn Meatoga, DeQuin Evans. Analysis: Reporting out of shape in a year where your team selects not one, but two people at your position in the first two days of the draft is inadvisable. It will likely get Sims cut. The Bengals like Evans and he may still be able to work his way onto the roster, but a practice squad spot could be in his future. 

LB -- In (7): Manny Lawson, Rey Maualuga, Thomas Howard, Vincent Rey, Dan Skuta, Roddrick Muckelroy, Vontaze Burfict. Out: Dontay Moch, Micah Johnson, Emmanuel Lamur, Grant Hunter. Analysis: This position became crowded in a hurry. The Bengals could consider keeping a crazy number like eight backers since Moch or Johnson could double as hybrid rush ends. Defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer still hasn't been happy with Moch's lack of retention and that will ultimately cost the 2011 third-round pick. Undrafted Burfict has shown too much potential to let go and he's been a model citizen despite his college reputation. 

DB -- In (10): Leon Hall, Nate Clements, Terence Newman, Jason Allen, Adam Jones, Dre Kirkpatrick, Brandon Ghee, Reggie Nelson, Taylor Mays, Jeromy Miles. Out: George Iloka, Robert Sands, Tony Dye, Taveon Rogers, Chris Lewis-Harris, T.J. Heath, Shaun Prater. Analysis: Seven corners and three safeties? Perhaps this is a stretch, but the Bengals love what they saw from oft-injured Ghee (wrist). He will be healthy soon enough and there's a good chance he won't make it through waivers to land back on the practice squad where he still owns eligibility. Plus, Clements and Allen both can play safety and likely will at some point this year. Zimmer always says he wants the best guys regardless and those are the top 10 defensive backs on the roster. 

Special teams -- In (3): Mike Nugent, Kevin Huber, Clark Harris. Out: Nobody. Analysis: All three have been rocks on special teams since last year and only injury would change these spots.
